Tom,
My posting to NCC Ardent has been made permanent, like I'd hoped, so if you could keep an eye on Annika until I can arrange for her to join me it would be a weight off my mind. She hasn't mentioned any difficulties, but you know Seven, she doesn't like to share her problems and I'm afraid the rampant anti-Borg resentment she faced on our return will rear its ugly head once more now I'm no longer there to protect her.
My regards to B'Elanna and Miral,
Chakotay

Hey,
No problem.

Hello,
How did Miral like her first day at pre-school? Did she make any friends? I wish I could have been there. I hope you took lots of holo-images for her Auntie Katie.
Have either of you heard from Annika lately? All of her messages to me have sounded very positive but I've received several alarming mails from Chakotay over the last few days making it sound as if she's besieged by narrow minded Federationalists. If you have the time, could one of you look in on her for me?

Hi Kathryn,
I've attached a small sample of the holo-images taken on Miral's big day - Tom, Harry, the Doc and Seven all arrived with holo-imagers in hand and my little princess loved nothing more than posing for the cameras (she gets that from her father) - I'm sure Tom will bore you with the other 193 when you get back to Earth.
I'm not sure what prompted Chakotay's fears because Seven is in her element at the Institute and is quite a hit with the other members of her team. We've been working closely together for the last few weeks and I don't think I've ever seen her looking happier. So you don't have to worry.
Will we be seeing you for the anniversary?

Kathryn,
I've attached the rest of the holo-images of Miral's first day (B'Elanna didn't want to bombard you but I knew you'd want to see them all). Miral loved pre-school, for the first three days, but then decided that she didn't need to go any more. Her pout when we told her she still had to go was adorable (image 239).
Chakotay is an old woman. Seven is doing great and if anyone was giving her attitude I'm sure Lanna would soon put them in their place (the two of them have become inseparable - would you believe it?). I might be talking out of line, but I think C's just worried that now he isn't around to keep an eye on Seven she'll meet someone else.

Tom,
My request to have Annika reassigned to the NCC Ardent has been declined. I'm not sure why but I've asked Tuvok to look into it for me. Annika took the news well but I know she's only putting on a brave face to keep from hurting my feelings. Could you be her shoulder to cry on when she's ready?

Hey,
Seven was over last night (she and Lanna were celebrating a big breakthrough with their hush-hush assignment) and she was in a great mood. So no need to worry.

Tom,
That doesn't sound like Annika.
I think she's overcompensating and is in danger of falling into a deep depression when the realisation of how long we could be separated finally hits her. I will issue an immediate appeal of Starfleet's decision not to reassign Annika on medical grounds.
Doctor - I would appreciate a written assessment of Annika's mental state for inclusion in my appeal.

Hey,
Chuckles thinks Seven's gone crazy because she isn't weeping and wailing at his absence. I think she's glad to be rid of him, but I can't exactly tell him that, although Lanna said I should. She and Seven have been getting real close lately (about time) and I think she's hoping that Seven's interest in him has run its course.
Are you coming to the poker game on Tuesday? Harry will be there and Tuvok might even put in an appearance.

Doctor,
Chakotay tells me that Annika is suffering a breakdown, is this true? B'Elanna and Tom both seem to think she's doing wonderfully but the reports I'm receiving from Chakotay have me worrying for her mental well being. Could I impose on you, as her good friend, to check in on Annika and see how she's coping with his absence?

Kathryn,
During a poker game at Tom and B'Elanna's quarters I was able to conduct an informal assessment of Seven's mental state. She gave no sign of suffering from depression or anxiety and appeared unconcerned with Chakotay's extended absence.
B'Elanna threatened to delete my programming if I didn't stop grilling her friend, at which point Seven actually laughed - out loud - before chastising our former chief and demanding - in a somewhat playful manner - that B'Elanna apologise.
Tom and I are both of the opinion that a romance may be in the air.

Kathryn,
We all got talking after the poker game (B'Elanna and Seven had retired to Lanna's half of our quarters to 'discuss' some work thing or other) and we all agreed that there was something going on between Lanna and Seven. I don't think they're sleeping together (Seven has never stayed over) but the Doc and Harry thought they might have been doing it at work (Tuvok said it was highly unlikely, but he did raise a brow and I think that might be code for something).
We were gonna play matchmaker... You want in?

B'Elanna and Annika? Are you sure?
I know they've been getting on much better since Annika was transferred to the Institute but I hadn't realised it had gone that far. Do you think Chakotay knows? It might explain his mania and why he doesn't appear to have been discussing the situation with B'Elanna.
Tom, are you okay with this? I know yours and B'Elanna's separation was amicable but this can't be easy for you.

Kathryn,
It's nice of you to worry, but I'm happy for Lanna. We never really worked as a couple (except when it came to producing the most wonderful child in the universe) but we are the best of friends and I want nothing more than to see her with someone who can truly appreciate the wonderful woman she is and Seven more than fits the bill.
Miral also loves Seven (all kids do) and I think she'd be just fine with it.
Chuckles is a bit of a loose cannon and I'm worried that he might cause trouble or make Seven doubt herself. Could you speak to him?

I met Seven for lunch yesterday and she asked for my advice on lingerie -- she wanted something sexy but not obvious (my words) -- because she's going away next weekend with a colleague and wanted to look visually appealing (her words). I asked her why she didn't go to B'Elanna for advice but she avoided the question and started asking me about my new girlfriend instead -- she wanted to know how long we were together before we started engaging in non-reproductive sex (her words) and if I had ever thought about proposing (I haven't) -- and then left before I could find out anything about her 'colleague'.

B'Elanna is going away for the weekend on a work thing! I don't know why she doesn't just come out and say that she's sneaking away with Seven for a romantic weekend, but at least this way I can tease her about 'work' for the next twenty years.
It's on!

I was informed today that Annika's transfer had not been denied, as I had assumed, but that she had declined the transfer to NCC Ardent. I have tried to contact her to confirm this information but I keep being stonewalled by the people she works with, who insist that she is on leave this weekend, with B'Elanna no less, and cannot be contacted until Monday evening at the earliest.
I think they've done something to her!
My captain has refused my demands that we turn the ship around and head back to Earth, but I'm sure that she would change her mind if you would intercede on my behalf, Kathryn, and explain the seriousness of the situation. I don't know where they've taken her but I'm relying on you, Tom, to track her down and bring her back. The fact that they mentioned B'Elanna could mean that she's also in trouble, so I think you should lock her in her quarters until after my Annika has been found and restored to me.

I have spoken to Captain Morris of the Ardent and she has relieved Chakotay of his duties until after a full psychiatric evaluation can be completed. I have asked that you, Doctor, be kept informed of his condition and that we be allowed to offer support where appropriate.
I would appreciate it if news of Chakotay's condition did not go beyond our circle.
Kathryn
P.S. Have you heard anything from the lovebirds?

Kathryn,
Miral received a holo-image from Lanna an hour ago (the place looks beautiful and perhaps the next time you're on Earth I could persuade you to accompany me there?) but nothing official yet on whether or not they're a couple.

All,
On my return from a recent business trip Miral Torres-Paris presented me with a collection of drawings she had created for me in pre-school. Her form lacks discipline and she has yet to learn the importance of staying within the lines, but in my opinion she shows signs of true artistic genius. On closer inspection I noticed that the paper used for her drawings - she is experimenting with primitive forms of artistry - was the reverse of several text based messages between yourselves.
B'Elanna and I have since read these messages in full - including those not sent to Tom but available via the judicial use of Borg encryption codes and engineering know-how - and come to the conclusion that you have breached not only our security but also our trust. I realise that having hacked into all your communications over the last six months to come to this conclusion may have rendered some of our indignation moot, but I would still like to express my disdain at your 'sticky beaking'.
However, I can confirm that B'Elanna and I are having copious amounts of non-reproductive sex, and that we plan to be married as soon as Kathryn returns to Earth and is therefore able to conduct the service.
Seven of Nine (and B'Elanna Torres)
P.S. Tom, the hotel B'Elanna and I stay in was the perfect romantic getaway and I would therefore recommend it if your plan is to seduce Kathryn and engage in non-reproductive sex.
P.P.S. Kathryn, B'Elanna has informed me that Tom is a more than adequate lover - although he does not compare to me and my Borg attachments - and would make an excellent husband for you now that he is no longer a member of your crew or Starfleet.
P.P.P.S. Tuvok, you should never lie about the eyebrow code.
The End
