DISCLAIMER: I don't own 'em. Oh God I wish, I wish! I wish the blonde (the two legged one not the four legged one) owned me. All the characters are owned by Rob Tapert, Renaissance Pictures and Universal.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This was my answer to a challenge that was made on the Bard's Village yahoo group. And is a very short piece, too short to be a proper story but too long to be a drabble.

Such a Fool
By Jac H.
She shook her head sadly; blonde hair flying around her head as she
watched Xena walking slowly in front of her. Xena's head was bowed
and her shoulders slumped. She wished so much that she could ease
her pain; that she could somehow take away the misery that hung like
a cloak.
She couldn't of course. There was nothing she could do. It was all
the fault of that other blonde and nothing she could do or say
would bring a smile back to her beloved Xena's lips.
Xena stopped. There was a small clearing beside the path and a steam
to one side. The grass looked soft and the water cool.
"Whaddya think, good place to camp tonight??" Xena looked at her at
last.
Her heart broke as she looked into Xena's eyes. The spark had left
them. Desperate to do something, anything to at least try and cheer
Xena up, she rested her head on Xena's shoulder and nuzzled her
neck.
Xena leaned against the proffered head, burying her face in the
loosely flowing golden hair, drying the tears from her eyes as she
did so.
"You miss her too, hey girl?? It's for the best, she could never
have loved me the way I wanted her too, the way I love her. I would
only have ended up getting her killed. She's better where she is.
Perdicus is a good man."
Argo nuzzled Xena again. 'She's a fool,' the horse thought 'that Gabrielle is such a blind fool.'
The End
