It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas
By Fewthistle
"Christmas has come early to the B.A.U.," JJ announced to Emily, walking over to perch on the edge of her desk.
"What are you talking about? It's not even Thanksgiving yet," the brunette agent replied, taking a moment to appreciate the elegant line of JJ's leg under the fabric of her jeans.
"Garcia," JJ stated ominously, clearly feeling that the single word provided all the information necessary.
It was apparent that her lovely colleague agreed, because she made a sound of commiseration and understanding.
"She's got mistletoe up in the doorway of her office," JJ supplied, an odd look of something akin to biting into a sour pickle spoiling the gentle lines of her face. "I went down there to ask her about the latest search info on the Tennessee case."
When nothing more followed, Emily asked impatiently, "And?"
"She made Morgan kiss Reid. On the lips," JJ finished finally, the words obviously leaving an unpleasant taste in her mouth. "Contrary to what Garcia might think, it wasn't pretty. Wasn't pretty at all."
"Okay, that was a mental image that I really didn't need," Emily complained, a grimace of distaste turning her full lips up at the corners.
"Hey, at least it's something you have to conjure up and not a picture burned into your retinas forever. I just know that it'll be there when I close my eyes tonight," JJ stated hotly, her ire at Garcia plain.
"How the hell did she get them to do it?" Emily asked, her curiosity winning out over her lack of enthusiasm with the image at hand.
"She shamed them. Questioned their open-mindedness. Plus, she has this ploy where she tells people that she's sick and that they shouldn't come any closer and so they end up standing in the doorway, under the mistletoe. Usually she's called two people down there at once, and then she points up and smiles that wicked smile of hers. They don't have a prayer," JJ explained, an expression of grudging admiration on her lovely face.
"Maybe we should send out a memo warning people?" Emily suggested. "Plus, isn't it illegal, as in sexual harassment, to have mistletoe in a government building, not to mention the whole religious overtones?"
"The memo wouldn't work. You know Garcia controls all flow of information in and out of here. She'd stop it before it made it to the first inbox. And as for the illegality, she makes sure that no one can prove she has it," JJ detailed, sliding a little further over on Emily's desk, so that her knee pressed against Emily's arm where it lay on the blotter.
"How can she get rid of it that quickly?"
"Oh, it's holographic mistletoe. A projection from her computer. When anyone like Hotch comes in, she just turns it off," JJ answered succinctly, a certain amount of admiration in her tone.
Emily's attention was divided between what JJ was saying and the warmth spreading from the blonde's thigh along the skin of her arm. There was also the scent of her perfume and the startling clarity of her blue eyes, both of which were distracting enough that she almost missed JJ's next words.
"So, I still have to find out what the search results were for Tennessee. Didn't you say that you needed to talk to Garcia about something?" JJ asked slowly, her diction more precise than usual.
It took a few seconds for the words to pierce Emily's consciousness. Then, her dark brown eyes widening with appreciation, a slow, very sexy grin spread across her face.
"You know, you're right, I do need to ask her about the case from Nebraska. Care to walk down there with me?" Emily replied, her eyes twinkling.
"I thought you'd never ask," JJ said, slipping off the desk with a decided smirk. "And you know, if we don't get all the answers we need, we'll just have to go back later."
"You know, I was thinking, there's a tremendous amount of information on the Tennessee case alone. We may have to drop back by several times," Emily agreed, her grin belying her resigned tone.
"Thank heaven for Garcia," JJ responded sincerely.
"You know, I'm suddenly feeling the Christmas spirit," Emily smiled, as she and JJ made their way towards Garcia's office.
The End
