The Best Medicine

It was one in the morning when Jo realized there was a warm body pressed up against her. As far as she knew, she went to bed alone. A splash of blonde hair on her pillow told her who it was. What the hell was Blair doing? Jo had been sick for the past two days, coughing up gunk and running fevers left and right. Blair had kept her distance, until now.

Jo shook the other girl's shoulder, waking her, hissing, "What are you doing?"

"Jo, you're sick. You're miserable, complaining - although that's nothing new - and I'm getting tired of your suffering."

"I'm not suffering," Jo scoffed, although she had complained so many times that day, she lost count. "Anyway, shouldn't you be wearing one of those dental masks and some booties? You could get sick."

Blair pulled the wool blanket back over the two of them and slipped an arm around the sick girl, settling into her.

"Shut up and let me stay here."
