Finding Mr. Bear
By Erin Griffin
"HG?" Myka asked carefully, her eyes bouncing from the item in her hands to the woman who had given it to her. "Where did you find this?"
There was a small smile as she said, "I have my ways. If I give away all my secrets, you'll find me boring and leave me," Helena said in jest.
"Impossible," Myka said abscently as she brought her ancient white bear to her face. There was the same smell she remembered from her childhood. "I thought Mr. Bear was gone for good. I can't believe you found him..."
"I didn't like the look in your eyes when you spoke of your toy, so I searched for it."
"My mother gave him away when I was-"
"But it is back now."
Myka's eyes welled with tears and she held onto the bear again. She then wrapped her arms around HG's neck and held the other woman close to her. "That is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. And I know it is him. There's my initials on the tag. Thank you."
"I just want you happy."
"I am. I really am. With you. Even without the bear."
"Then you won't mind if I gave him back.Hhe cost a pretty penny-"
"Don't you dare!" Myka said swatting HG, who let out a laugh.
"I jest. He's yours again. Now and forever."
"I love you, Helena."
"I love you, Darling."
