How Erica Found Out
By carpesomediem

Erica Hahn always fought for her heart, not just the one beating in her own chest but the ones she swooped in to collect after a harvest. For the first time she since left Seattle, she found herself rushing into Seattle Grace from a medical chopper to collect another heart.

"Well, I'll be damned," Erica whispered to herself, stopping in her tracks. The resident behind her nearly ran her over, confused by the sudden stop.

"Dr. Hahn?" he asked nervously, eyeing the cooler in her hands. "Is everything all right?"

"Yes, of course," she snapped. "I just remembered something I needed to do. That's all."

"Oh," he replied, feeling stupid for saying anything in the first place as she headed to the nurse's station, asked for a piece of paper and began scribbling furiously before asking the charge nurse to deliver the now folded note.

"Let's go," Erica told her resident before making her way to the staircase with him hot on her tail.

"What's this?" Callie asked, confused by the note now resting in her hand.

"Dr. Hahn asked me to give it to you," the nurse replied with a shrug. All Callie could do was nod in response, Arizona eyeing the note suspiciously as the nurse bounded off with a few charts.

"Do you want me to-" Arizona pointed off into the distance.

"-No," Callie quickly said. "No, I…" Callie unfolded the note and began to read it without another word.

I didn't think I'd come to the hospital today to see you. You were coming out of the elevator with a blonde by your side. I don't know who she is or what she's done to you, but you're happy. I'm glad you finally found your happiness. And your heart. I know someday I'll find mine, too.

"Calliope?" Arizona asked softly, resting a hand on her shoulder. "You okay?"

"I found my heart," was all Callie said but she said it with a smile. I hope she finds hers, too.
