4x14: It's Not Easy Being Green
Recap by Misty Flores

Previously on LHDP: Pepa and Silvia's blossoming friendship hit a gentle snag when Pepa made it clear that for her, it's blossoming into something else. Meanwhile, Paco and his men made fools of themselves when they both consulted a medium to find out who murdered the Interpol agent and lost valuable evidence. The lost evidence was thanks to Lucas and Sara, who are desperate to cover up the murder, knowing Lucas will be framed and his kidnapped sister will die. As a result, Paco and Mariano have been suspended from duty.

EPISODE 4x14: It's Not Easy Being Green

SCENE: CACHIS

While Lola mans the bar, Pepa talks happily on her cellphone, so caught up in her conversation she does not notice when Silvia walks in.

PEPA: What do they wear for a bachelorette party in the city? Because I don't believe it-

Silvia, however, immediately zooms in on Pepa the second she comes through the door.

PEPA: [still on her phone] She doesn't suspect a thing!

SILVIA: Hello!

It's too loud. Too enthusiastic, and Silvia finds herself unexpectedly crestfallen when Pepa does not even turn her way.

PEPA: [still on her phone] You keep your mouth shut.

Ignored, Silvia heads to the bar and settles down to sulk. Lola shoots her a smile and happily sketches away. Julian walks in.

JULIAN: Goodmorning, Lola!

LOLA: Goodmorning!

JULIAN: How's the family?

LOLA: Good! Paco's a little under the weather, but he's good.

Silvia continues to pass furtive, conflicted glances back at Pepa.

JULIAN: Well give him some of my little snacks. They're amazing!

LOLA: Great, just put them right in there.

Lola finally glances down at Silvia, who is still caught up in her sulk, and is obviously confused as to why it's so damn devastating that Pepa hasn't noticed her yet.

LOLA: Something wrong, sis?

Silvia blinks, brought out of her thoughts.

SILVIA: No, I was just thinking about something.

LOLA: Oh.

Rita walks in, waving happily to everyone.

RITA: Good morning! Pepa!

She gives Pepa a happy wave and heads over to the bar.

SILVIA: [still frowning] Hi, Rita.

RITA: Hi, chicas.

As Rita muses over what she wants to order, Pepa finally finishes up her phone call, heading over to the girls.

PEPA: [on her phone] I'll see you in a while, gorgeous. Smooches. Ciao. Ciao.

The second she's at the bar, Silvia smiles.

SILVIA: Hi, Pepa!

PEPA: Hey, cuties. What are you doing tonight?

SILVIA: Me? Nothing. Pajamas, slippers, the couch and the television.

Pepa arches her brow, clearly unimpressed.

RITA: Me? Well, since it's Jose Luis' turn to take care of the baby, I'm going to take advantage and finish a little jacket I'm making for her the color of salmon.

PEPA: And you, Lola?

LOLA: Nothing. Finish my homework for my drawing class. We're onto still life.

SILVIA: Why, do you have a better plan?

PEPA: Well, yeah. A bachelorette party for my friend from Sevilla. It's going to be a blast. [to Rita] So you put away your jacket, [to Lola] you your drawings and [to Sonia] you, your slippers.

Silvia offers a game nod to Lola. Rita gets excited.

PEPA: I want you all sexy as hell tonight. We're going to set Madrid on fire!

RITA: I like that idea!

Pepa slings a game arm around her, and grins at Silvia.

PEPA: We're gonna go crazy!

--

LOLA'S HOUSE

Rita and Silvia are dolled up, and Silvia is putting a coat of lipstick on Rita. Rita protests heavily.

SILVIA: No, the color red doesn't look bad on you!

Rita sighs and allows it. Lola comes out wearing a sexy purple ensemble.

LOLA: Hey, I think - look, doesn't this dress fight me a little… I don't know… tight? What do you think?

Silvia and Rita both stare.

SILVIA: You're so gorgeous.

RITA: Precious. You look precious.

LOLA: Really?

Silvia nods proudly. Rita grins.

RITA: My lord! Are we, or aren't we ready to set Madrid on fire?

LOLA: Yes, we are! We are!

RITA: And now, the finishing touch! Because a bachelorette party isn't complete without it's fundamental party favors. Heeheehee!

She reaches excitedly into her bag while Silvia and Lola look on suspiciously. Rita pulls out sparkly little PENIS HEADBANDS. She happily hands one to Lola.

RITA: Here.

LOLA: … but these are… are… they're penises!

RITA: Yes. They're penises. And I wanted them with foreskin, but the guy said they were all out. I was so annoyed.

She pulls out a red one and tries to give it to Silvia. Silvia jumps away.

RITA: Here!

SILVIA: No, not me! I don't want to go out with that on!

LOLA: I mean, they're well made and all but… I don't know… to put this on our heads - what if people from the neighborhood see us?

But Rita is determined not to have her buzz killed by her party pooping friends.

RITA: Aw, come on, don't be embarrassed. I spent my money and my time buying these for us. I'm really excited. Besides, they're well-made, and the guy told me they go with everything!

She grabs the penis from Lola.

RITA: Don't worry about it. It goes with everything!

She places it on Lola's head and surveys her handiwork.

RITA: And he's right! He had reason! It goes with everything!

She turns to Silvia, and places the red ones on her head.

RITA: Here, cutie. See? Look, look at how gorgeous you are!

Silvia wants to crawl under the sofa. The door bell rings and Lola goes to answer it. It's a dolled-up Pepa.

PEPA: Hi!

RITA: Hi, Pepa, hi!

Pepa offers Lola a kiss and gives her an appreciative look.

PEPA: How gorgeous! How gorgeous, Lola!

Rita does a dance of excitement as Pepa comes around. The girls all stare at her.

RITA: Party!Party!Party! Well? How do we look?

Silvia offers a resigned smile as the penises bob on their heads. Pepa's smile falters, but holds.

PEPA: Without a doubt, you'll be the most original girls at the party.

Rita grins and hands her Pepa's own penis head, with rabbit ears and two little penises stuck between them.

RITA: Here, honey! For you!

Pepa hesitates, but takes it with a good-natured smile and a wink.

SCENE: LESBIAN GAY BAR

The gayest lady bar on the planet, with girls making out in corners, and not a skirt in sight.

The girls head in. Everyone but Pepa has their penis headbands on. Pepa passes everyone a slip of paper. Rita's too excited about her free drink pass to notice the ambiance.

RITA: Awesome! They've given us a free drink!

PEPA: Didn't I tell you that tonight we were gonna go crazy?!

Rita squeals happily. Silvia notices all the girls making out as Pepa, obviously familiar with the establishment, starts to greet the regulars.

PEPA: Marina! [kisses a girl on the lips] What's up, gorgeous?!

Silvia blinks at the interaction, and scrambles to yank off her penis-headband as she taps Pepa fiercely on the shoulder.

PEPA: What?

SILVIA: Is this a bar for lesbians?!

Pepa's caught. She smiles at Lola and Silvia.

Meanwhile, from a quartet of girls dancing next to the bar (Pay attention to them, you'll see them again), a hot lesbian notices Pepa.

Pepa slings her arm around Lola and Silvia.

PEPA: I didn't want to tell you at first, because you looked so cute with those penises on your head!

Lola YANKS off her penises. Rita catches up, happily oblivious.

PEPA: You doing good, Rita?

RITA: [bopping to the music] Great! Happy!

PEPA: Do you want to get a drink?

RITA: No, I'll go soon!

HOT LESBIAN has now made her way to the group.

ROCIO: Pepa?

PEPA: Rocio, sweetheart!

They embrace and give each other a long kiss. On the lips. As they part both are oblivious to Silvia's possessive and jealous expression. Silvia glares at Rocio, clearly not appreciating the girl's friendly affection toward Pepa.

ROCIO: Finally! I was beginning to think you weren't coming!

PEPA: I know! Look, this is Silvia, [Rocio shakes her hand] her sister Lola, and Rita, a coworker! [to the girls] This is my friend Rocio! The poor soul who's getting married on us!

RITA: Congratulations!

ROCIO: Thank you! Well, it's a pleasure!

She plants a peck on Silvia's lips, startling her. Rocio moves on to Lola, and does the same to Rita.

All the ladies look a bit surprised. Rita rubs her lips.

ROCIO: Well, I'm over there, okay?

PEPA: Sure.

ROCIO: Enjoy the party.

Lola offers a friendly wave good-bye. Pepa clasps her hands warmly.

PEPA: Thanks, gorgeous!

Rocio leaves, but Silvia has a thoughtful frown on her face.

RITA: I think your friend was a little drunk! She tried to kiss me on the cheek but she got my lips instead! She missed!

LOLA: No, no, no! This is a lesbian bar!

RITA: What?

Pepa flashes Silvia a smile. Conflicted, Silvia barely manages to smile back.

LOLA: That this is a bar for homosexual women, Rita!

Rita blinks. She stops. She looks around. She finally sees the girls making out all over the place.

RITA: Woah! ACK! It's true, Lola, it's true!

She starts to scan the bar frantically. She sees another couple making out. And other.

RITA: WOAH! Look! LOOK! [she points and runs in that direction]

Lola runs after her, trying to stop her obvious pointing.

Meanwhile, Silvia can't take her eyes off Pepa, but Pepa is too distracted by the bar. She glances around. Silvia's smile falters.

RITA: Look! Look! Oh my God! LOOK LOOK! LOOKLOOKLOOKLOOK!

Lola finally grabs a hold of her, yanking her finger down.

LOLA: Don't point at them! That's rude! [she yanks off Rita's penis headband] And take this off, you'll offend them!

Rita recovers.

RITA: When I got here, I thought the guys were all on the second floor! Mamma mia! Well…

She laughs at herself, and begins to bop again to the music.

RITA: Well, one thing less to experience in life, right Lola? I've never been to a place like this! Haha!

Lola grins and shrugs.

RITA: Let's go show them how the straight woman from San Antonio dance!

Pepa grins supportively and motions with her head to the dancefloor.

RITA: Let's dance! Let's dance!

Lola and Rita hold hands and run to the dancefloor.

PEPA: Totally! Set Madrid on fire!

Silvia, looking dumbstruck and quiet, is startled when Pepa slings her arm around her shoulder, drawing her in.

PEPA: Well? Dance, Redhead?

Silvia is clearly too uncomfortable to do any dancing. She shrugs out of the embrace.

SILVIA: Later.

Pepa is not used to getting a cold-fish treatment from her BFF, but just shrugs and nods, heading out to join Lola and Rita.

As she begins to dance, she glances back in concern, and sees Silvia staring at her.

Silvia smile stalls, and she glances away.

LATER

The ladies are on the dancefloor and prepare to do some awesome Flamenco dancing. Remember the trio of hot lesbians from which Rocio emerged? Well, Rocio is dancing with Lola, Rita is dancing with one of her friends.

The third hot lesbian? Who is smiling all 'come hither' and clearly thrilled to be with her partner? Is with Pepa.

Silvia also has a partner, the last of the quartet, but we never see her face, because she does not matter at all, because Silvia makes absolutely no effort to hide the fact that she clearly wants Pepa to be dancing with her, and not that damned hot lesbian.

As the dance starts, Pepa offers an insecure Silvia a wink, and Silvia finally looks at her partner, reassured.

As the dance goes on, however, Pepa's attention to her partner is not missed by Silvia. Although she frequently looks toward Silvia, Pepa obviously does see the woman in front of her, something that Silvia is NOT at all happy about.

Meanwhile, Rita dances happily with her partner and Lola has a grand ole time dancing with Rocio.

At the end of the dance, Rita giggles as her partner cuddles her close as the room erupts into cheers.

Silvia is devastated when an exuberant Pepa pulls her partner close and kisses her on the cheek. Pulling away, Pepa tosses Silvia a glance, and then begins to flirt openly with her partner.

Rita pulls away happily from her partner.

RITA: Thank you! Thank you! I'm going with my friend! Thank you, gorgeous!

She runs for Lola.

RITA: Lola! Come here! Come on!

She drags her away from the group.

Silvia, standing with Rocio and her friend, casts another glance at Pepa. Pepa, unable NOT to notice Silvia's staring, catches her glance, but keeps her attention and her hands on her partner.

RITA: She put her knee between my knees, and her face was all close to me!

Jealous and miserable about it, Silvia follows Rita and Lola, as Rita excitedly giggles.

RITA: Let me tell you something! It's a good thing I'm back with Jose Luis, because if not? With me being so drunk? Something crazy could have happened!

Silvia blinks, stunned.

LOLA: She was definitely making eyes at you!

RITA: That's what I said!

Silvia, however, battling her own demons (and her own confusing attraction to a woman), is not nearly so charitable.

SILVIA: Are you listening to yourself?! Stop talking nonsense!

Rita arches a brow, and lowers her voice.

RITA: Hey! I'm going to tell you one thing, okay? I've never thought about it - it's true, these things … well they don't occur to you, right? [Lola nods] But these girls? Being so close to them? They're really cool, they're really beautiful, they're great people! If I let myself get distracted, they could talk me into something! Heeheehee!

The lights and sound suddenly turn off.

RITA: Someone unplugged the lights!

Rocio has taken over the DJ's booth.

ROCIO: Ladies, please leave the dancefloor!

From the dance floor Pepa whistles. Rocio tosses her a smirk.

ROCIO: The show is about to begin. Fasten your seatbelts.

Lola, Silvia and Rita obediently head off to join Pepa on some couches, and we get a glimpse of a beautiful woman with a beautiful body, posing in the middle of the dance floor.

The beautiful woman begins to dance seductively as a tune starts to play.

RITA: Look! A magician!

Pepa looks at Rita in confusion.

RITA: of course! When I went to bachelorette parties there was always a magician!

LOLA: I think this one is going to make her clothes disappear.

Rita's smile drops.

RITA: Her clothes?!

Rocio has settled between Pepa and Silvia, leaning on her friend. Silvia could not sulk any more obviously.

The girl continues dancing. Pepa, having a good time with Rocio, happily gets into it. Silvia only has eyes for Pepa. She carefully watches Pepa's reactions to the stripper.

The stripper rips off her bodice, and the room erupts in cheers. Lola and Rita blink, and Silvia arches her brow.

RITA: Look! Those can't be real! [she points to her boobs] Look at how well placed they are!

The stripper continues to do her thing, and heads for the couch. Rita jumps in excitement.

RITA: Look she's coming! She's coming! [to Lola] Give me 5 Euros! Give me 5 Euros!

She claps her hands in glee.

RITA: I'm going to put them in her bra!

The stripper comes to Rita and she happily honks on the breasts before slipping in the money.

Silvia is not at all excited about this.

The stripper bends over and Rita and Lola get an eyeful of ass as she drops her skirt. She heads over to dance for Pepa.

RITA: Lola, she had them firm like soccer balls. And without one stretch mark!

The stripper turns back. Rita squeals.

RITA: She's coming to you!

The stripper leans over Lola. Lola begins to stammer and she sinks into the chair.

LOLA: Oh, sweetheart, you have goosebumps! Tell them to turn off the air conditioner before you get sick!

The stripper backs away, amused, and heads for Silvia. Silvia wants none of it.

SILVIA: No, no - thank you. No!

She waves her away. The stripper dances down the line. Silvia once again eyes Pepa.

Pepa is now too into the show to pay much attention, especially when the stripper heads for her, and presents her with her bra strap, indicating Pepa should remove it.

RITA: My God!

Pepa is happy to oblige. She's giddy as a school girl as the room erupts in cheers, and the stripper removes her top.

Silvia jolts up, infuriated.

Pepa is now the happy recipient of a topless lap dance, flirting as the stripper writhes above her.

Silvia can't take it. She's past jealous and onto blinding rage. She grabs her bag and her coat.

SILVIA: I'm leaving.

Lola and Rita sit up in surprise.

LOLA: What?!

SILVIA: Yes. I have to get up early tomorrow.

LOLA: But why?!

The scene gets Pepa's attention. She watches carefully.

LOLA: We're having such a great - it's… boobtastic, for lack of a better term!

SILVIA: No my head really hurts.

LOLA: Silvia!

She's up and gone.

Pepa is again ripped away from the attention of the stripper as she watches Silvia leave. She's clearly confused, and concerned, but pinned as the stripper keeps dancing away on her lap.

Pepa offers her a polite smile, but her thoughts are clearly with Silvia as she settles back, thoughtful and somber.

MEANWHILE

Paco and Mariano tried unsuccessfully to trick Don Lorenzo into reinstating them to the case. Meanwhile, Interpol made it clear that they wanted Mariano and Paco's badges over the mess that was made of Agent Smith's murder.

THE NEXT DAY

The group gathers for the morning meeting.

Pepa enters the room.

PEPA: Good morning.

Silvia immediately stiffens and stares straight ahead.

Montoya offers her a bashful smile.

MONTOYA: Hi, Pepa.

PEPA: [under her breath] Good morning.

Pepa's smile is polite but distracted, as she makes her way to Silvia, settling in behind her. She leans forward and begins to speak quietly.

PEPA: What happened to you last night, Redhead? You left without even a good-bye.

SILVIA: The drinks didn't sit well with me. I had to go.

Pepa isn't buying it.

PEPA: Are you sure that was it?

Silvia stares uncomprehendingly. Pepa broaches her fear.

PEPA: You weren't uncomfortable because of the kind of place it was, were you?

That is so not it. Silvia's frosty attitude intensifies.

SILVIA: It would have been the same no matter what kind of place it was. That didn't bother me at all.

She turns away from Pepa and faces forward, her stony expression fading for anxious discomfort.

Pepa leans back, unconvinced.

Don Lorenzo enters with the guy from Interpol and begins the meeting.

Before he can go any further, Mariano and Paco interrupt. They both insist on turning in their badges.

But Don Lorenzo doesn't accept it. Instead, he offers up his own badge in exchange.

The group sits, unsure of what to do, until Silvia stands.

With a smile to her father, and tears in her eyes, she places her badge on the desk next to her father's.

Montoya immediately follows, removing his badge and placing it on the desk.

Pepa is next. Her eyes glisten with tears as she meets her brother's gaze, and puts her badge on the desk.

Don Lorenzo catches her gaze, surprised at her solidarity.

That starts it. Soon, every cop in the room has risen up and has removed their badges, silently marking their allegiance with Paco, Mariano and Don Lorenzo.

Povedilla, who has no badge to give, even offers an IOU.

Don Lorenzo is overcome.

DL: Thank you, men. Thank you.

The Agent from Interpol is incensed with this mutiny.

INTERPOL AGENT: Well, that's great. That's great!

He paces furiously out of the briefing room.

It's not over.
