One Step Forward
By Juri

Leaning heavily against the door to her room, Olivia Spencer sighed, illation and disappointment battling in her for dominance. Seeing Natalia and sharing a quiet meal had been wonderful, temporarily soothing the anxious disquiet that had taken up residence in the pit of her stomach since they had come back from their 'vacation'. Sitting across from the other woman, watching her shyly peek up through dark lashes had melted her heart; it reminded her of all the reasons she loved the younger woman. Her smile, her laugh, the way she almost-frowned when she was listening intently, the goodness and light that radiated from her. Just being with her had lifted a weight from Olivia's chest.

But, as always, the evening had come to a close too quickly for her taste, and the older woman would be lying to herself if she said that it had ended how she expected – how she wanted it to. Hand holding and soft words were all well and good, something that she appreciated and cherished, but hell, she had gotten more when they had been 'just friends'. She wanted desperately to go slow, not to push Natalia into anything she wasn't ready for, but she could feel the need to touch and taste and kiss itching behind her eyes. If there was one thing Olivia Spencer was, it was a sexual being, and this glacial pace was starting to wear her nerves and control very, very thin. And it very much did not help that she hadn't engaged in any… intimate relations in months… many, many long, lonely, frustrating months… The wait was killing her.

Closing her eyes, she scrubbed a hand rough over her face. She had to be strong, she had to resist the temptation to shove her assistant against the wall, pin her arms above her head, and… Olivia groaned, digging her fingers into her jaw. If this was going to work, she was going to have to invest in a shock collar for herself, something to head off these thoughts that could be her ruin. God, it had taken all of her will power to let Natalia leave tonight, to not tug her back and kiss her neck, her collar bone, her chest–

"Sweet Jesus!" Olivia gasped, eyes squeezed shut, fighting back a scream. Maybe it was time for a cold shower and a different line of thought. Taking a shuddering breath and silently thanking the universe that Emma was away at a sleep over – that girl just seemed to wander off – the hotel owner pushed off of the door, dropping her purse carelessly. Before she had made it three steps, she heard a firm knocking behind her.

Resisting the urge to throw her shoe across the room in frustration, Olivia turned and opened the door, eyes widening at the sight that greeted her. Natalia stood impatiently, arms crossed over her chest. "Natalia – uh –I- hi?" she stuttered, mystified and a little frightened by the expression of annoyance on her friend's face. Dark eyes glared, narrowing to slits. "Um… come… in?" She offered, flinching when the smaller woman brushed past her, practically stomping into the room.

Closing the door, Olivia found herself being spun around and pushed against it roughly. Natalia stood in front of her, one hand holding the older woman to the molded wood, the other firmly cocked on her own hip. "You were just going to let me leave." She accused, and Olivia blinked slowly, arousal warring with confusion.

"Um… yes?" she replied, unsure. The younger woman huffed, removing her hand from the hotelier's chest; the warmth was missed immediately.

"You-you! Argh, you are so frustrating!" Olivia blinked slowly again, frowning, feeling indignation rise in her.

"Excuse me?"

"You! You were just going to let me walk away, without even trying to kiss me?" Natalia replied, crossing her arms over her chest.

"What?" A perfectly sculpted eyebrow climbed high, and indignation turned to incredulity.

"Do I have to have to spell it out for you? Why. Won't. You. Kiss. Me?"

Olivia froze, the world contracting, falling away, until all that was left was the sound of her own heart beat. Natalia wanted to kiss her, wanted her to kiss her… Natalia was angry because Olivia hadn't kissed her. Wait a freaking second! "Just when the hell did I become the bad guy for not kissing you? If I remember correctly, you were the one who wanted time." She growled, pinning the younger woman with a glare of her own.

"Have you not been paying attention? Good Lord, Olivia how many longing looks does a girl have to give you before you get a clue?!" That stopped the older woman short, her mouth opening and closing soundlessly. She flashed back to dinner, to the looks Natalia had been giving her. They seemed more intense, she remembered, eyes darker than usual, and she did recall catching the younger woman's eyes on her cleavage more then a few times…

"Huh?"

"Oh for Christ's sake!" Natalia exclaimed, surging forward, crushing their bodies together and claiming her lips in an almost brutal kiss. Hands buried themselves in her hair, nails dug into her scalp, pulling her closer and holding her in place, and Olivia found herself unable to do anything but hold onto Natalia's shoulders and moan into her mouth. After long moments, the younger woman pulled back, resting their foreheads together, panting like she had run a mile. Kissing her more softly, Natalia finally smiled, flashing her dimples.

Taking a few steps back, the younger woman giggled when Olivia followed, as if attached by strings. Bringing up a hand and touching the older woman's cheek, she stopped her, gently stroking smooth skin with her thumb. "You got it?" she asked, voice thick with desire. Olivia nodded, unable to speak. Dropping her hand, Natalia squared her shoulders, straightening both their clothes. "Good. I'll see you tomorrow Olivia." And then she was gone.

Olivia stood for long moments, dazed, confused, completely sexually frustrated… but happier than she had been in… ever. She brought her fingers to her lips, reveling in the tingling and residual taste left behind by the other woman. Smiling almost wickedly to herself, she moved further into the room. "Definitely worth the wait."
