Chapter Four - Meet The Creeper

Lindsay kicked the door open, gun drawn. She cleared the apartment and turned to leave as she slammed into Cindy. "What in the hell are you doing here?!"

"Leave. Now." Cindy said, fear filling her face. "Before he comes back here. Just, go."

"A bit late for that." A voice said. Cindy turned around to see Jace standing there, blocking the only way out of the apartment. Lindsay held her gun up. "Inspector, you might want to rethink that. Wouldn't he Cindy darling?"

"Lindsay, put your gun down." Cindy whispered, holding the older woman's arm. Hearing the fear in her voice, Lindsay let the gun fall to the floor.

"Now, what is going to happen here, is that I am going to take Cindy, and you are going to stay right there." He said, moving forward and grabbing the redhead's arms. Lindsay noticed how the woman didn't even fight, and she wanted the full story here badly. Before Lindsay could object verbally, both people in front of her were gone.

Lindsay sat down at her desk and looked at her computer screen. She looked up Jace again as Jill and Jacobi came over. "Where is Cindy?" Jill demanded, sitting on the edge of the desk.

"Jacen Michaels. In San Q for the beating of his girlfriend at the time, Cindy Thomas. Put her in the hospital for a week...and caused a miscarriage." She read aloud, taking her time with every word. "Jumped bail, apprehended trying to get into the hospital to see her."

"Lindz, where is she?"

"Report here says that, according to the statement from the victim, that beatings were not uncommon. Nothing ever reported though. Just a few bumps and bruises covered up by simple everyday excuses. Broken bones, sprains and strains. Three miscarriages, not including the one with this report."

"Lindsay! Where in the hell is Cindy?!"

Lindsay looked up at Jill, all that needed to be said written on her face. "I couldn't stop him. But I will find her." Her voice was shaky, but Jill knew that Lindsay would do everything in her power to get Cindy back safely. Jill leaned over her shoulder and looked at the screen.

"Four miscarriages." She whispered. "Why did it take her until she was almost killed to file a report?"

"Fear." Lindsay said.

"She could have been a mother four times, and he took each of those chances away from her. And now he has her somewhere, and I am sorry to sound like a bitch, but you are just sitting here on your ass."

"Look, I have officers out there looking, but we have no idea where he took her or anything. It's a wild goose chase." Lindsay snapped, getting up and walking away. Jill followed her silently until they were entering Claire's office. "Cindy's missing."

"Wait, back up." Claire said, putting the folder in front of her down.

"Jill, explain and stay here. Claire, don't let her leave." She left the office and ran into Jacobi outside. "Why the fuck did you let her leave?!" She yelled, drawing attention from the people around them. "Why?" Lindsay said, her voice weaker. She leaned into him and let herself cry.
