DISCLAIMER: Popular is the intellectual property of Ryan Murphy. I simply dabble in his sandbox, make his characters gay for each other and enjoy the turn on that follows.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Why do I keep typing this? It's been almost 10 years since the show's been on air, if Ryan Murphy isn't coming to kick my ass by now, I think it's a safe bet he's not showing up to sue me anytime soon. ;) This is part of my drabble request fest. For wolfemeister.

Some Explaining to Do
"What is this?" Jane asked suddenly. Sam raised an eyebrow, eyeing the piece of paper in her mother's hand. "It's a hotel receipt, I found it in a pair of your jeans..."
"It's probably something I picked up somewhere," Sam shrugged, pretending not to care. When in doubt, play dumb, she learned that from Brooke.
"The receipt has your name on it, Sam," Jane replied sternly, crossing her arms. Sam's face went white momentarily before she went to speak but found she couldn't. She was desperately trying to figure a way out of the conversation that was sure to follow.
"Brooke, do you mind explaining this to me?" Mike handed her an opened envelope.
"It's my credit card bill," Brooke stated flatly. She knew what he was referring to, but when in doubt, go along with it until you know all the facts. Brooke learned that from Sam. "What's wrong?"
"I know what it is, Brooke," Mike replied, unamused. "I want to know why you were staying in a hotel for a weekend last month..." Brooke smirked briefly thinking about that particular weekend.
She mentally cursed herself; this was not a talk she wanted to have with her father. Ever.
"That was fun," Sam sighed, sitting next to Brooke and draping an arm around her shoulder. Brooke snuggled closer, resting her head on Sam's shoulder and closing her eyes and enjoying the closeness. They didn't want to think about what happened.
It seemed that somehow their parents let them off the hook and that was that. Mike and Jane knew what was going on; it was hard to ignore the budding relationship brewing between their daughters. They were just hoping they'd admit it, but for now, they'd give them their trysts as long as they paid the price for them.
