What's in a Name?
By Ann

"See? What did I tell you?" Greg whispered to Nick and Warrick, gesturing in a not so stealthy manner towards the coffee machine.

"They're just getting coffee, man. I don't see a thing." Nick shook his head at Greg. "You really need to get a life. I mean, it's natural to think about two girls getting it on, but Sara and Sofia? They're our teammates, Greg. Get your head out of the gutter."

Warrick shrugged. "You got to admit, Nick. They'd be hot together."

"Oh, c'mon, Warrick; not you, too. Next thing you know, Greg will have some kind of pet name for the two of them."

Greg fidgeted in his seat, and Nick didn't need any investigative skills to pick up on his colleague's nervousness.

"You already have one, don't you?" Greg grinned, and Nick took the bait. "Well, go ahead and tell us. We'll never get any work done until you do."

Greg glanced around the room, and then leaned forward, uttering a single word in a very low voice. "Sassy."

"Sassy?" Warrick frowned. "How'd you come up with that?"

"Shh! Do you want them to hear you?" Greg shot a glance at the coffee machine to see Sara and Sofia in quiet conversation. He was so happy they hadn't heard Warrick that he never noticed Sofia's hand on Sara's arm or the bright smile Sara was sporting, the one she rarely showed anyone.

Nick, on the other hand, immediately zoomed in on the hand that was rubbing up and down Sara's arm in a more than friendly manner.

"Oh, man. I think Greg may actually have something here, Warrick."

Both men glanced towards the two women who were now heading in their direction. There was no sign of any impropriety from either of them.

"Hey guys, I'm going to ride with Sofia to the station. Brass wants to talk to me about the Henrickson case. Will you tell Grissom for me?"

"Um, sure, Sara. We'll, I mean, I'll let him know." Nick practically stuttered his answer. He was going to kill Greg for putting the `Sassy' image in his head.

"Alright, I'll catch up with you guys later then." Sara nodded and strode through the doors, Sofia following right on her heels.

The minute they climbed into Sofia's car, the detective turned to her lover. "Sassy? What the hell is that?"

Sara chuckled. "You heard it, too? I thought I'd misunderstood. Leave it to Greg to come up with some code name for our relationship."

Sofia slowly backed out of the parking space. "Do you really think he knows about us?"

"Nah, he's always imagining match-ups. He once thought I was with Catherine, although, he never gave us a cute little name. The other day, I overheard him talking to Archie about Catherine and Wendy. Get this, he calls them Candy."

Sofia laughed out loud. "Well, I guess Sassy is better than Candy."

Taking Sofia's hand, Sara smiled. "You're damned right it is."
