4x16: Words Unspoken
Recap by Misty Flores

Previously on LHDP: Silvia, no longer able to deny her inflamed attraction to Pepa, went to Lola for advice. Lola, still stinging over the disaster that was the Sara and Lucas romance the first time around, told her sister she was quite obviously falling for Pepa, and even though Pepa was a woman (and their sister-in-law and hated by their father), Silvia would more than likely regret not exploring her attraction further.

Bolstered by her sister's blessing, Silvia stepped up her flirtation, and was rewarded with Pepa asking her out on a date. Unfortunately for lovestruck Curtis, he heard the entire exchange over the mikes they were wearing, and his dreams for banging the hot brunette were shattered.

Meanwhile, Mariano discovered a hidden microfilm in a Rubix cube that belonged to a dead gangster, and gave it to Paco. Lucas, sensing it was important to the Kaiser and could be used as leverage to help his kidnapped sister, enlisted Sara to help him steal it. Their secret romance however, has started to prick the interest of Sara's family, who can obviously sense she's in love and seeing someone. The question is: Who?

EPISODE 4x16: Day 1. Words Unspoken

It's Don Lorenzo's turn for an opening monologue. He sits, devastated on his bed, thinking about things.

DL: When you get to a certain age, it becomes increasingly difficult to accept when you're wrong, and much more difficult to change your values.

He goes on to talk about vices, and we see flashes of the episode to come. Povedilla snorting cocaine. Lucas with the gang who is holding his sister hostage. Paco's men clucking like chickens.

And we see Pepa, distraught and frustrated, looking at herself in the mirror of a bathroom.

DL: I always thought those people were wrong. But even if you think you know how things should be, the reality is that things are simply how they are. Life isn't like a tractor that sows virtue wherever it goes, and in that you find happiness...

CACHIS

Pepa, dolled up in leather pants and lipstick, heads into Cachi's with an expectant smile on her face. She glances around the bar, clearly looking for someone, but only sees Julian, who has been helping out Lola. As she strips off her jacket, Julian grins appreciatively.

JULIAN: What do you say I take off the apron, turn off the grill, sell the bar and we go wherever you want to go, Princess?

PEPA [laughs]: Stop joking around Julian and get me a beer! I'm meeting a friend.

THE LOCKER ROOM

At the precinct, Silvia fluffs her hair, a happy smile on her face.

RITA: You're looking really gorgeous, no?

Silvia giddily grins, uncapping her lipstick.

SILVIA: I have a dinner!

CACHIS

Julian's not done flirting.

JULIAN: I brought you a beer, a plate of the awesome ham that I deliver, and a house on the beach if you want!

PEPA: Come on! Open up the beer! I'm leaving soon!

THE LOCKER ROOM

Silvia puts on her lipstick.

SILVIA: I'm not too dressed up, am I?

RITA: No, you look great! You look beautiful! He's going to be ripping off that shirt in less than two minutes! Watch, you'll be telling me all about it tomorrow!

Silvia's smile falters at Rita's immediate assumption: both about the man and about the idea that sex is on the table.

RITA: He's going to go crazy! Crazy! Is he one of those manly men - the tall guys - the ones that can just lift you up in their arms?

Silvia hesitates, now clearly self conscious.

SILVIA; Yes.

RITA: You're so lucky, honey. I never find those types of guys.

Rita walks away, but she's killed Silvia's buzz. Majorly.

RITA: And I'm going to tell you one thing. I need to start imitating you more. Because if I bought that type of lingerie, I don't think Jose Luis would be so boring.

Silvia pulls together her shirt, hiding her bra.

CACHIS

Sitting at a table, Pepa's now downed two beers, and her excitement has waned for impatient anxiety. Julian brings her another beer, and she takes a swig.

THE LOCKER ROOM

Silvia has now let her doubts overwhelm her. She's seated on the locker room bench, afraid to move.

Rita, dressed and ready to go, smiles at her.

RITA: Chica, I'm leaving now, and you should be leaving soon too! Because it's good to make them wait, but you can't make them wait too long, because if not they'll think you don't want to go!

Silvia manages a half-hearted smile, and sighs, conflicted and scared.

CACHIS

The third beer is down and Pepa's still waiting, and has begun to see the writing on the wall.

She lifts out her phone and presses a button.

THE LOCKER ROOM

Still in the locker room, Silvia's phone rings from inside her bag.

Grabbing it, she stares, wrestling between answering and letting it go.

She lets it go.

CACHIS

It's dark, and aside from Julian, who is closing up, Pepa's the only one left. She's waited all night for Silvia, who never showed.

THE LOCKER ROOM

Silvia sighs, frustrated, and finally just gets up and heads purposefully for the mirror, tying her hair up and wiping the lipstick off her mouth.

CACHIS

Pepa gets up to go.

PEPA: Later, Julian.

JULIAN: Hey, Pepa, there's no hurry. I'm here for a while.

She smiles sadly at him.

PEPA: I'll see you tomorrow.

After one last look at the bar, she heads out.

THE LOCKER ROOM

After one last look in the mirror, Silvia does the same.

PACO'S HOUSE - THAT NIGHT

Lucas and Sara have also had a date night, and theirs has gone much better. They enter the kitchen giggling, but Sara tries to keep Lucas quiet when she sees that her grandfather has crashed on the daybed in the living room.

Lucas only half obliges, and before he leaves, he erupts in a SHOUT that jolts up not only DL but Paco and Lola.

Paco, who has been suspicious for a while that Sara is seeing someone, has had enough.

THE PRECINCT - THE NEXT MORNING

In DL's office, DL is furious with Mariano and Paco for losing the microfilm that Mariano found in the Rubix cube. Because Paco has no idea that Sara stole it from him, he blubbers helplessly that he swore he had it in his pocket but somehow lost it.

They know the negatives were plans of a building, but they have no idea what kind of plans they were, but they swear to DL they will find out what it was. They then come up with the theory that maybe the Kaiser doesn't exist, but when DL asks for proof, Paco admits to having none and being overwhelmed with worry for Lucas.

Frustrated, DL tells him that Lucas can take care of himself, and sends them out to find their missing evidence and get their proof.

As they leave, he gets a knock on his door.

The door opens, and as he barks one last order, he find himself distracted when he sees across the hall, Pepa embracing her niece Sara warmly.

He blinks, stuttering silently as he watches the pair walk off arm in arm.

LATER - THE ELEVATOR

Pepa enters the elevator alone and shuts the door, ready to press the button when the door opens and Silvia walks in, her head buried in her files, unaware of who she's actually with.

SILVIA: Hello.

PEPA: Hello.

At the familiar voice, Silvia's head JERKS up, and a nervous, self-conscious smile appears on her face as their eyes meet.

Faced with her crush, she's now openly flustered, and it's Pepa who closes the door for her when Silvia hesitates.

PEPA: Going to the second floor?

SILVIA: Yes.

Pepa presses the button, and the elevator jerks into motion. They stand on either side of the elevator, obviously extremely aware of each others presence, and awkward as hell about it.

Their internal monologues start.

SILVIA [VO]: I should have picked up the phone when she called. And now what do I tell her?

She glances at Pepa, whose eyes are on the floor.

SILVIA [VO]: Should I make up an excuse or tell her the truth? That I got scared.

She glances up again. Their eyes meet. She glances away. Pepa starts beating herself up internally.

PEPA [VO]: Of course I scared her. I came on too strong. I can't ever just have a friend. Every time I get along with a woman, I think there's something more.

Their eyes meet again intensely. Silvia smiles. Pepa smiles. Distracted, Silvia drops her files.

SILVIA: OH!

The papers scatter to the floor.

SILVIA: What a disaster!

They both kneel to the floor, gathering up the files. Pepa studies her intently.

PEPA [VO]: But there is something more. I'll try and tell her.

Once again, their eyes meet, locked together.

SILVIA [VO]: Come on, now, tell her.

Before she can work up the courage, the elevator JERKS, reaching the second floor, and Silvia loses her balance.

She catches herself by bracing herself against Pepa's shoulders, but now they've got their arms around each other, and the sexual tension is thick as Silvia gulps.

SILVIA [VO]: Tell her, Silvia. Right now. [out loud] Pepa.

Flustered, Silvia lets go and shakily pushes to her feet. Slowly, Pepa rises to join her.

SILVIA: Umm… Last night I didn't go to dinner because…

She stares, mesmerized, battling.

She can't do it.

SILVIA: I got pulled into an autopsy and I didn't have my cell phone and… I'm sorry.

It's a total lie. And Pepa knows it, but she manages an easy smile anyway, and offers a lie of her own.

PEPA: Don't worry about it. I waited for you a little bit and then my friend Maca from Sevilla called to tell me she was in town and we went drinking all night. So…

Silvia nods politely.

SILVIA: Well, great.

The conversation stalls.

SILVIA: Well, we'll do it another day, no?

PEPA: Sure, you going to -

She motions for the door.

SILVIA: Yes.

Pepa opens the door for her.

PEPA: Whenever you want, Princess.

SILVIA: Great. Well… later.

PEPA: Bye.

She shuts the door for Silvia, and her smile immediately drops.

Frustrated with herself and the no-win situation, Pepa sighs raggedly and presses the button for her floor, brooding.

MEANWHILE

Paco and his men gone undercover on a cocaine bust, but all they have done is accidentally encounter a Special Forces unit ALSO after the same drug bust.

While undercover Povedilla, was forced to snort cocaine and is now tweaking, speeding about the precinct.

LATER - THE PRECINCT

Pepa spots her brother at the foot of the stairs and throws an arm around him gamely. Paco takes the opportunity for a heart to heart.

PACO: Sis, I need you to do me a personal favor.

Pepa nods agreeably.

PEPA: Tell me.

PACO: It's the baby girl. I think she's got a boyfriend, Pepa.

He nods. She blinks. He nods again.

PEPA: … you're not asking me to spy on the baby girl, are you?

PACO: No, no! No, no! Of course not! No, no! It's not about that, it's a manner of… being subtle… you know… drawing it out of her. Right? Easing it out of her.

Pepa frowns, and arches her brow at him.

PACO: Pepa, it's killing me not to know. I don't want names or anything. The only thing I want to know is that my little girl is okay. That she's not mixed up in anything that could be bad for her.

Pepa finally takes pity on her brother. She covers his hands with hers lovingly.

PEPA: Okaay.

PEPA: Great! That's great! Then tonight, you'll stay at the house! And you'll stay in her room! And you'll talk to her-

POVEDILLA, cracked out, CRASHES into them as he zooms up the stairs.

PACO'S HOUSE -

In the middle of the night, Don Lorenzo is crashed out on the couch. Sara sneaks past him, but manages to bump into the table, waking him.

He watches as she sorts through the fridge, and slumps back to sleep.

Pepa, doing her duty to her brother, dressed in short shorts and a tank, sneaks into the kitchen, catching Sara's attention.

SARA: What?!

Pepa's eyes are on DL, and she shhs Sara as she playfully leans over him.

SARA: Pepa Pepa! If you wake him, I'll kill you!

But Pepa's having too much fun, carefully and gently covering DL with his blanket and clucking maternally at him between snorts.

SARA: PEPA!

DL wakes up, blinking as he glances over his shoulder as Pepa heads back to Sara.

SARA: Aunt!

PEPA: So he won't get cold!

Sara rolls her eyes.

SARA: Right.

PEPA: Sara, it's because he works so hard to stay healthy, it'd be a shame for him to get sick.

Sara inspects her find, a pint of ice cream. She grabs a spoon.

SARA: Oy, there's only a tiny bit left.

Pepa grabs hold of the spoon.

PEPA: Yep, a tiny bit - a tiny bit for ME!

She stuffs the spoon in her mouth. Sara's jaw drops.

SARA: My aunt is a pig!

Pepa grins gleefully.

SARA: I'm going to finish it myself. I am! It's mine!

PEP: Oh, sure. Whatever!

Playfully, she swats Sara hard on the ass.

They crack up and head back to the bedroom.

DL blinks suspiciously.

IN SARA'S ROOM

Now in full slumber party mode, Sara and Pepa hang out, sharing the melted ice cream. Pepa tries to sneak in some questions.

PEPA: And you? After Lucas, nothing?

SARA: No.

PEPA: I don't believe it, Sarita.

SARA: No!

PEPA: Not even a little fling… a little adventure… a date, something?!

SARA: No!

PEPA: Something!

SARA: I said, no! No, no, I'm not with anyone, I don't like anyone! I liked Aitor but that's over.

Pepa narrows her eyes.

SARA: And you?

PEPA: And me what?

SARA: Do you like anyone?

It's a loaded question, and Pepa sombers a bit, stalling for time by sticking a spoonful of ice cream in her mouth.

She laughs bittersweetly.

PEPA: Well… do I like anyone… It's just… I always get confused about what is friendship and what is attraction.

Sara muses on that.

SARA: Sure.

They descend into quiet.

SARA: Hey, and when did you first realize that you were a lesbian?

Pepa blinks, and throws her head back in resignation.

PEPA: Oh, there it is!

Sara laughs.

Outside, DL, passing by on the way to the bathroom, hears the giggles.

PEPA: And where did that come from!?

SARA: I don't know. Curiosity, maybe?

Pepa smiles knowingly. Sara pouts and offers the chocolate ice cream as a bribe.

SARA: Here.

PEPA: Sure, make little faces!

SARA: Come on, tell me!

DL freezes, and glances through the open door, listening to the conversation.

Pepa takes the ice cream and settles back.

PEPA: Let's see… how do I begin.

Sara listens attentively. As does DL.

PEPA: When I was your age (18), I used to date guys. Just like my friends, and they told me I had to like guys. So I would go out with guy after guy, and it would always be a disaster after a disaster. And one day, I got to know this girl...

Sara listens, rapt.

PEPA: And this girl... I kissed her. And I loved it. It was... different. I realized that what I really liked was something a little more... delicate. Something else.

*Transcribers note - it should be noted that Pepa and Silvia's first kiss was when they were eighteen years old. It's quite a valid argument that Silvia may very well have been Pepa's first kiss with a woman. Moving on.

Don Lorenzo's eyes widen.

PEPA: The ice cream is almost gone.

Sara snatches it.

SARA: It's mine!

PEPA: Hey! Jerk! I'm your aunt!

She jolts up and tries to take it back.

PEPA: Give it! Give me the ice cream!

SARA: You want it? You want it?! Here!

She slathers the melted ice cream all over Pepa's face, cracking up. Pepa gasps, cracking up, straddling her and returning the favor.

PEPA: TAKE it! Take it!

Sara fights back.

PEPA: I can't believe you're actually slathering-

Sara squeals when Pepa jumps on top of her and mucks her up.

PEPA: That's for messing with your aunt!

They break up into peals of laughter, squealing as they keep up with their food fight.

Eavesdropping, DL is NOT amused.

PACO'S BEDROOM

A snoring Paco is awoken with a hand on his mouth, and discovers with a shock that DL has snuck into his room. Lola mumbles, and Paco, recovering from the shock, asks DL what he's doing.

DL: Your sister has gone into the bedroom with your daughter!

Paco blinks. Of course she has.

DL insists there are shady shenanigans going on, and keeps poking Paco.

Paco, afraid of waking up Lola, finally gets up and drags DL into the hallway.

IN THE HALLWAY

DL, sputtering with rage, directs Paco to Sara's door. Trying to appease him, Paco listens, and hears nothing.

He tries to get DL to go back to bed, but DL slips out of his grasp and yanks the door open.

DL: Just what the HELL is going on in here!

He turns on the lights.

Pepa, sleeping on Sara's pull out bed, and Sara, sleeping on her own bed, wake up with a jerk, startled at the sudden intrusion.

SARA: What's wrong?!

The two men blink. As Paco glares at DL, DL scrambles for an excuse.

DL: Um... I can't find... I can't find - my ice cream!

He grabs the icecream the girls left behind and frantically stuffs some in his mouth.

DL: Paco, my ice cream!

PACO: Of course. The ice cream! Your grand dad's ice cream that you took!

Sara and Pepa glance at each other, bewildered.

PACO: The ice cream that he needs because of his glucose and you know ... he needs to eat ice cream at two in the morning! We couldn't find his ice cream but we found it. It's fine. Right?

He grabs hold of DL and steers him out.

PACO: Let's go. We're leaving! Let's go!

Pepa is completely confused.

PACO: Good night! Good night!

He shuts the door and turns off the light.

In the hallway, he shakes his head incredulously.

PACO: Don Lorenzo, please, go to bed. GO to bed and let the girls have their slumber party in peace. Please.

He shuffles off to bed.

DL frowns and once again listens at the door, unconvinced.

PACO'S HOUSE

The next day, Paco and his company have offended the Special Forces team so much that they have no challenged them to a basketball game: winner takes control of the case.

As Pepa sets the table for dinner, Paco suits up for the game and they pow-wow about what Pepa has found about Sara, which is a big fat nothing. But Pepa's willing to give her the benefit of the doubt.

PEPA: Paco, stop obsessing about it. I've already asked the girl, and she told me that she's not with anyone. And if she says she's not with anyone, then Paco, maybe she's really not with anyone.

PACO: Well it's killing me. It's killing me! To even think about it… it's killing me! What if she's with some really old guy?!

Pepa waves away his paranoia.

PACO: Of course she's not going to tell you! Pepa, what we need to do is… is… we don't' ask her!

PEPA: We don't ask her. Sure.

She smiles in exasperation.

PEPA: In that case, what do we do, Paco?

PACO: Well…

He thinks on it.

PACO: We interrogate! Get sly about it, ease it out of her - investigate and come to the right conclusion! Honey, you're a police officer!

Pepa has certainly never planned on using those skills to spy on her niece. She sighs uncomfortably and offers her brother another flustered smile.

PACO: Use a little bit of psychology! You need to catch her…when she's vulnerable! That's what you have to do!

Pepa nods over-enthusiastically, humoring her brother as she continues to set the table. Paco keeps thinking this through.

PACO: Right? I don't know… Like… For example… OH! Yes! Look!

He reaches for Pepa, grabbing her attention.

PACO: Today there is a street festival in the neighborhood. So you take her! To the festival. And after a few drinks, you know… She'll loosen up! Right?

Pepa is amused at what she's hearing.

PEPA: Paco…

PACO: What?

PEPA: Are you asking me to get the girl drunk?

PACO: No, Pepa, not that! No, no! No, I'm just telling you … so she could be loose, relaxed, calm, open to communication. That's it! Not drunk, no!

He slings on his bag.

PACO: Please, Pepa. Just give me something, please?

With a reassuring nod, she waves him away.

LATER

Pepa is still setting the table as Don Lorenzo walks in, looking tired and gruff.

PEPA: Good afternoon.

She smiles politely. DL, still in his 'Pepa-is-evil-and-seducing-my-grandaughter' huff, glares at her, unsure if he should shoot her or ignore her.

Finally he just sighs.

DL[mutters]: Good afternoon.

He heads for the living room as Sara walks into the house. Her reception from her grandfather is much sweeter.

DL: Hi, my love!

SARA: Hi!

She gives him a fierce hug and a kiss as she passes him.

DL: How are you?

SARA: Good!

She heads for the kitchen, and straight into Pepa's arms.

PEPA: Hi my precious niece!

SARA: Hey, beautiful lady!

They squeeze each other intimately and give each other exaggerated, affectionate smooches as they cling happily to each other.

DL glares worriedly.

PEPA: How are you, beautiful?

SARA: Good, good!

They let go, but Pepa calls her back.

PEPA: Oh! Come here.

She reels her in, an arm around her shoulder.

SARA: What?

PEPA: So your Dad tells me that there's a street party tonight in the neighborhood.

Sara grins, seeing immediately where this is going.

SARA: Well!

PEPA: Take me, please, Sara? I don't know anyone around here. I want to try to at least have the semblance of a social life.

SARA: Sure.

PEPA: Yes?

SARA: But I warn you, you're going to have to learn to live with stumps instead of feet, because they call it 'The Foot Crusher'.

Pepa grins.

Behind them, DL looks ready to have a coronary at the idea of the two girls going out on a 'date'.

Luckily for him, there's a knock at the kitchen door. Sara goes to answer it.

It's Silvia who enters.

SILVIA: Hello! [to her father] Hello!

DL nearly leaps for joy as he scrambles to her.

DL: Hello! Hi, my love! How are you?!

As he grabs her in a warm embrace, Silvia's eyes are reserved for Pepa alone.

At the intense stare, Pepa has grown quiet, and offers in return a loaded, simple blink of her eyes.

DL: I'm so happy to see you!

He flails for Sara.

DL: hey-hey-come here!

He pulls them together.

Silvia, tries hard to stay focused on DL and Sara, but is unable to keep her eyes from moving hungrily in Pepa's direction.

DL: Your aunt! Your aunt is an expert on the street parties around here! She's going to show it to you!

Pepa, shy and smitten, settles against the counter, a small smile of quiet hope on her face as she watches the proceedings.

DL: Yes, yes!

SILVIA: No!

SARA & DL: yes!

SILVIA: No, thank you, I don't want to kill my feet.

Pepa arches a brow, bemused.

Silvia tries to disengage and head in Pepa's direction, but Sara, excited, and DL, desperate, cling to her.

Pepa's quiet smile deepens as Silvia is now being shoved in her direction. Their eyes lock.

SARA: Let's go! The three of us! We can be like Charlie's Angels! We can go dancing! Please!

Pepa brow arches further, and a simple smile spreads across her lips.

Lovestruck, Silvia's secret smile widens.

--

THAT NIGHT

It's two in the morning, and Don Lorenzo sits up nervously on the day bed in the living room, unable to sleep.

He's waiting for the girls to come home, and musing about what the heck is going on.

DL: So what was happening!? The answer came early in the morning to the rhythm of a street festival.

Laughing erupts as the door to the kitchen opens, and DL scrambles to get under the covers, and appear to be asleep.

Obviously a little tipsy and high on having a good time, the three women trip into the kitchen, wearing silly hats and laughing and chortling to themselves.

SARA: She almost fell over!

DL listens intently, frowning.

Silvia, leaning against the door, points playfully at Pepa.

SILVIA: And you!

PEPA: Me what?

SILVIA: [whispering] You didn't win me the little dog at the shooting game.

Pepa takes offense.

PEPA: It's because they cheat at those things!

Smiling, Silvia waggles her finger at her, not believing it for a second.

PEPA: If I had my gun? [she illustrates] I would have won you every prize!

Sara tries to shush her.

Pepa throws open the fridge.

PEPA: I want some spaghetti!

SARA: Pepa, my GRANDDAD!

She motions wildly to the 'sleeping' man in the living room.

They shush each other violently and erupt into laughter, falling all over each other as they move back into the kitchen.

DL jolts up, and watches Pepa embrace Sara from behind. His eyes narrow.

Sara's phone rings, and he lies back down quickly.

Sara checks her phone. Pepa leans in suspiciously.

PEPA: It's two in the morning. That's a boyfriend!

Impishly, Sara smirks at her lesbian aunt. Silvia silently watches the exchange as she kicks off her shoes.

SARA: Oh and how would you know?

PEPA: Do you know how many calls I get at two in the morning? Hmm? Hmm?!

She creates a big fat zero with her thumb and index finger.

Silvia falters, taking this information in. This was obviously something she did not know.

PEPA: And do you know why? Because no one thinks about me at two in the morning.

She glances over Sara's head to meet Silvia's stare.

Though silent, Silvia's lips quirk shyly. She very obviously does think about Pepa at two in the morning.

Sara, oblivious to the sexual tension, breaks the stare by pushing off the wall. She drunkenly holds up an index finger to herself.

SARA: You know what I think? That what you need?

She points at Pepa.

SARA: is a good girlfriend!

Waving her hand with a flourish, Sara heads off to bed, unaware that she has made DL want to cry with what he thinks may be an offer, not advice.

Pepa heads over to the door, and leans against it beside Silvia.

PEPA: [whispering] Well, I'm going to go wash off my make up. My face feels like cardboard.

Silvia laughs quietly, and then stalls, suddenly self-conscious now that she's been left alone with Pepa.

They dissolve into a charged silence.

SILVIA: … Well… I'm going to go home.

PEPA: Yeah?

Silvia breathlessly nods. Pepa shrugs, and pushes off the door.

PEPA: Get some rest.

SILVIA: Okay.

Besotted, Silvia watches her go.

PEPA: See you tomorrow.

Pepa blows her a kiss and tiptoes past DL, heading toward the bathroom down the hall.

Relieved the night is over, DL sighs heavily. He doesn't hear her go.

Left alone in the kitchen, Silvia carefully puts her heels back on. She gathers her coat and her purse, and after a steadying breath and a smile to herself, turns to leave.

She finds herself leaning against the door instead.

And now she battles. Overwhelmed, besotted, giddy and defenses down, Silvia doesn't want to go.

Silvia pulls her hand away from the door, and stands in limbo, thinking about everything she wants to do and where she wants to be so badly.

Her smile broadens as she thinks about Pepa, and as she stands, frozen, and it hits home: she doesn't want to leave.

Her smile stalls as the resolve hits home, overrides her fear.

And now that she knows, she can't wait anymore.

She puts her purse and her coat on the kitchen table, and begins to run for the hallway, heels clacking on the linoleum.

She stalls in the living room, remembering her father, and carefully moves past him, before once again running into the hall, going after Pepa.

The heels have caught DL's attention, and he sits up as he hears the clatter of footsteps down the hallway.

Someone's gone after Pepa.

DL: [VO] What was happening wasn't anything new. They moved around me, but I stayed in the same place that I've been my whole life.

He moves off the bed.

We cut to Pepa by herself in the bathroom.

Now alone and free to drop her friendly act, we see her once again in the throes of her inner conflict.

She stares at herself in the mirror, deeply frustrated, both with herself and the hopeless situation of being in love with a woman so deeply in denial.

DL: [VO] With my values, my ethics, with my morals… and when you're like that, you can't just put a blindfold over your eyes.

Pepa wipes the make up off her lips, eyeing herself in the mirror with mounting frustration.

She shakes her head at herself, disgusted with herself.

And then the door creaks open.

It's Silvia, faltering when she locks eyes with Pepa.

The intensity in Silvia's gaze is impossible to misread.

Pepa stills, and a smile slowly spreads on her face.

PEPA: Hi.

SILVIA: Hi.

Silvia checks behind her, and moves further into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her.

And now, she's free to just look. She does, drinking in the sight of Pepa as she drifts around her.

Pepa, however, has been too burned to take anything for granted.

PEPA: Is something going on?

Eyes locked on Pepa, Silvia smiles and nods subtly.

Breathless, Pepa stays still, ever aware of the other woman as Silvia moves behind her, and stops at her back, staring at Pepa's reflection with burning intensity.

Unsure of what to do in the face of Silvia's obvious interest, and afraid to take any sort of initiative for fear of misinterpreting, Pepa goes back to wiping her face.

Silvia doesn't stop staring.

Pepa can't take it, and grabs her wipe, turning back to her, purposely casual.

PEPA: Do you want a wipe?

Silvia very quickly shakes her head no, offering a shy smile that fades for that quiet hunger as soon as Pepa turns back to the mirror, wiping uselessly at her already clean lips.

Gathering her resolve, Silvia takes a step forward, fingers twitching.

Pepa stops wiping as she feels and sees Silvia's trembling hands reach up slowly to smooth against Pepa's hair, moving them over her shoulder.

The wipe comes down. Pepa stares into the mirror, breathless as Silvia's palm smoothes down to between Pepa's shoulder blades.

Silvia's fingers reach up again, and as she skims deliberately against the side of Pepa's throat, Pepa reacts with an unsteady breath, her eyes drifting shut as she revels in the touch.

Silvia observes this all very carefully, as she once again arrives between Pepa's shoulders, her hair drifting between her fingers.

Pepa's eyes drift open, lock with hers through the reflection in the mirror.

Silvia, so intensely aware and focused, she very nearly frowns with concentration, reaches forward again, caressing her way slowly down Pepa's arm. Again, Pepa's eyes drift closed, her breath goes unsteady.

Silvia wants more. She locks her hand around Pepa's forearm and gently pulls, forcing the other woman to turn around and face her.

Silently, they regard each other, lost in the thick tension, and Silvia, openly panting, smoothes her palms again down Pepa's arm.

With an overwhelmed smile, Pepa's eyes drift shut yet again, breathing unsteadily. Silvia clearly adores that reaction.

Pepa, finally encouraged enough to touch back, gathers Silvia's palms in her own, and brings them between them.

Gently, smoothly, she trails her fingertips down Silva's arms, showing her what Silvia has done to her.

Fascinated, Silvia watches the journey, feels the goosebumps overtake her, and her eyes drift closed in pleasure.

At the sight, Pepa's smile deepens.

Again gently, tenderly, Pepa brings Silvia's palm to her cheek, smoothing it against her skin. Silvia smiles.

With her other hand, Pepa reaches out and caresses Silvia's face. She holds nothing back in her expression, silently expressing her desire for Silvia.

Swallowing hard, Silvia comes in closer, leaning in. Rapt, Pepa watches, as Silvia slowly moves flush against her and tilts up to press a soft, firm kiss against Pepa's lips. Another.

Smiling, Silvia moves back slightly, testing Pepa's reaction. Pepa breaks into a beautiful grin.

But Pepa waits, not moving.

Silvia wants more. She leans in again, and this time Pepa's hand comes up to embrace Silvia, deepening the kiss.

It lasts, making them both pant, and as they pull back, they smile.

OUTSIDE

DL has made his way to the bathroom, and watches suspiciously as the shadows underneath the door clearly indicate two people standing close.

INSIDE

Pepa, now comfortable enough to tease, gently fingers the top button of Silvia's dress.

Silvia blushes and smiles as Pepa's silently spoken intention.

OUTSIDE

DL leans in closer, hearing the smothered laughs.

INSIDE

Pepa's teasing has sparked Silvia's competitive spirit, but she isn't a tease.

Without hesitation, she grabs hold of Pepa's vest and yanks apart the first button with such force she makes Pepa jump.

At Pepa's shocked smile, Silvia grins back, and Pepa can't help but kiss her again.

OUTSIDE

DL keeps listening.

INSIDE

They pull away, and Pepa arches a challenging eyebrow. With a smirk, she begins to unbutton Silvia's top TWO buttons, calling her bluff.

Silvia immediately responds, hands rising fast to Pepa's vest and working apart the buttons.

They burst into smothered laughter, giddily caught up in their version of 'strip chicken'.

DL keeps listening.

Pepa and Silvia keep kissing, and Silvia's inflamed passion pushes them both off balance, as Pepa stumbles back and crashes into the door.

DL JUMPS.

The girls laugh as things crash to the ground, and grinning widely, Pepa holds a finger to her lips, trying to keep Silvia quiet.

DL is horrified.

PACO'S BEDROOM

Paco is once again awoken by DL's hand clamping over his mouth.

Frustrated, he can barely spit out a demand for an explanation.

DL: Get out of this bed immediately! Your sister has seduced Sara!

PACO: WHAT?!

DL: And she's molesting her in the BATHROOM!

Paco flops his head back in disbelief, eyes rolling.

PACO: What the hell are you talk-

He can't even get it out, because DL grabs his arm and starts to drag him out of the bed.

IN THE BATHROOM

The 'game' has faded as the kisses have become hotter and deeper, as the humor has been overtaken with lust.

Pepa's vest has come off, and as her fingers slide between them to the buttons of Silvia's dress, they still, waiting breathlessly as Pepa undresses Silvia to her waist.

Pushing the dress open, Pepa smooths her fingers against Silvia's bare shoulders, silently appreciating her new lover's beauty.

They kiss again.

OUTSIDE

Paco has had enough.

PACO: No, no - Don Lorenzo, no! That's enough. That's enough! You are making really grave accusations!

DL: Paco, they're in there! Your sister! And your daughter! I saw them go in there! Look!

PACO: And what happens if we open the door and they're in there peeing!? What do we say? This time there isn't any ice cream, Don Lorenzo!

DL: I don't care Paco! You can tell them whatever the hell you want just LOOK!

PACO: No. I'm not going to.

DL: I'm telling you to look, Paco!

PACO: Don Lorenzo, I'm telling you that-

He stops when they both hear audible snickers and whispered giggling.

Frustrated, he sighs, but bends down, peering into the keyhole.

HE SEES:

From his perspective, he sees Pepa lifting her shirt off, and another person with her, Pepa obstructing her face.

His eyes widen.

IN THE BATHROOM

The making out has clearly become foreplay, as Pepa and Silvia kiss passionately before Pepa descends to Silvia's neck.

Silvia's hands roam Pepa's bare back and as she arches into Pepa's mouth -

PACO finally sees who it is.

His eyes get even wider, and he glances quickly to DL, fully aware that the man will freak out when he realizes it's actually HIS daughter hooking up with Pepa.

He launches up and tries to lie.

PACO: Nothing! They're not doing anything, Don Lorenzo. Please go to bed, because there's nothing going on.

Paco can't lie to save his life (or in this case, his sister's).

DL: Paco. Get out of the way. Get out of the way. Move, Paco.

Reluctantly, Paco shuffles out of the way.

PACO: Don Lorenzo...

DL gives him a warning glare, and sinks down to look into the keyhole and confirm his suspicions.

Instead he sees Pepa and Silvia, his own daughter, passionately on the road to making love.

His face breaks. He's devastated.

Pepa and Silvia, locked in their own world of finally consummating what has built for years between them, are none the wiser.

LATER

DL is now seated on his bed, broken by what is occurring.

DL: But even if you think you know how things should be, the reality is that things are simply how they are. Life isn't like a tractor that sows virtue wherever it goes, and in that you find happiness...

He breaks down into tears.
