Pepa Will Do Anything For Love (Yes, Even That)
Recap by Misty Flores

Previously on LHDP: Pepa has the worst hang over the morning after she went to a party with Silvia, when she is told by her lover that in her drunken state, she has promised Silvia a baby. Freaked out but aware of how excited Silvia is, Pepa tries to hold it together and go along with it for Silvia's sake, until she discovers that Silvia, who can no longer bear children and is obsessed with getting Pepa pregnant as soon as possible, makes an insemination date without really consulting her.

This prompts Pepa to have a panic attack, and while on a stake out at a hotel, she drags her brother Paco into the bathroom and proceeds to vent about her problem. Neither are aware that the mike that Paco brought in with him is broadcasting everything to the rest of the team – including Silvia who is in the surveillance van. That is, until Silvia notes over the wire that the men they're watching have left their hotel room. Pepa realizes she's fucked.

They keep it together long enough to finish the mission, but it's clear with a devastated Silvia and a repentant Pepa – bad times are ahead.

EPISODE 7x03: Pepa Will Do Anything For Love (Yes, Even That) - PART I

In the briefing room, 1:30AM, Pepa sits alone in the briefing room. Outside, lights turn off. Her hair is longer than normal, so this is possibly a glimpse to the future?

For the first time, Pepa is our episode narrator. As she sits in the briefing room, she begins.

PEPA: [VO] As many sleepless nights as one can dedicate to rethinking their past love life, the reality is that you'll find very little solutions. You can try and repair any relationship, but the end result will always be the same. In one moment, it'll shatter into pieces, like so many have before.

As she goes, we see flashes of the episode to come – the troubled relationships: Pepa walking in on Silvia, Mariano and Marina, Lonely Paco without Lola – and the glimpse of a fight between Sara and Pepa.

PEPA: [VO] Because a person is who he is, and it's not easy to stop being who you are to love someone… it's almost like… a fight you've lost before it's even begun. That's why the best thing that could happen to us would be for relationships to come with expiration dates. Like on yogurts. That way we'd know beforehand when the end would come. And we wouldn't waste time on insecurities, suspicions or arguments. We'd dedicate ourselves to cherishing every single moment until the last possible second.

Deep in thought, Pepa gets up and leaves the briefing room.

PACO'S HOUSE:

Paco unfastens clothes from the line.

PEPA: [VO] But if you think about it, the good thing about not having expiration dates, is that it allows us to keep dreaming that this time, that yogurt will last forever.

Sara arrives home from the airport, and she and her father exchange a happy reunion. She realizes that he's actually handling Lola's clothes. Paco explains that Lola called him and said she needed them, so he washed them because they smelled a little moth-y. Sara realizes how much pain he's in but when she tries to talk to him about it, he says he's absolutely fine, and tries to usher her into her bedroom, forgetting she now lives in Lucas' old apartment.

He tells her to get some rest, but she turns around and hugs him tightly from behind. Paco tears up and whispers that he loves her.

DL'S OFFICE:

DL is now aware of his short term memory loss, and has tried to deal with it by writing himself little post-it notes with what he needs to know, and putting them all over the office. He struggles through a phone call with his boss, and Povedilla charges in.

DL panics and points out the notes that say 'do not disturb' and 'knock before entering' signs on his door. Povedilla sees all the Post-Its but pretends not to, covering his eyes and retreating. He slams into the door. DL calls him back and haltingly explains his situation.

He asks Povedilla to be his note-taker. Be with him at all times and take notes about everything he says or does – he'll be DL's memory bank. Povedilla, aware of the effort it takes DL to ask, agrees to it, and also agrees to be completely quiet about it.

THE BRIEFING ROOM

The agents, minus Pepa, get their briefing on Gayarre by Silvia and Montoya. Silvia is a mess – you can tell she's just barely holding it together. Povedilla scribbles away on his notepad.

MONTOYA: It looks like we've confirmed the DEA's thesis. Gayarre 's organization has introduced the purest Mexican cocaine into this country. They also attribute two murders to them, and the amputation of the hands of Said Ambassa.

POVEDILLA: Inspector, Inspector! Ambassa with one 'S' or two?

Silvia lifts up two fingers. Paco and Mariano glance at Povedilla's frantic notetaking, perplexed.

SILVIA: The photos that we have of Gayarre are not great quality and he's probably already changed his appearance, but this just came from Interpol and it confirms that he has two different colors in each eye.

MONTOYA: The only lead we have is Gayarre 's obsession with gambling and illegal fights: dogs, cage fighting, Russian roulette, and cock-fighting. That explains the little present that was left for him at the hotel of the Gran Fenix. Paco, you and Mariano are in charge of this case. Get a cock and get into the middle of those fights. Got it?

MARIANO: Where the hell are we going to find a rooster at this time?

Aitor leans into make a joke. Mariano shoves him away.

MONTOYA: And another matter. Paco, can someone please explain to me why the money taken from the gas station hasn't been ticketed and turned into the office?

Paco and Mariano blink, struggling for a response. There is a knock at the door, and PEPA walks in – and stops in her tracks when she sees Silvia less than a foot away.

Silvia registers her presence, but refuses to acknowledge her, body stiffening. The team shifts uncomfortably at the obvious tension, everyone staring at them both. Pepa only has eyes for Silvia.

Montoya tries to keep the meeting moving.

MONTOYA: Erm… Mariano?

MARIANO: … eh?

Montoya stares. Mariano blinks and tears his eyes away from Pepa and Silvia. Pepa still only stares at Silvia. Silvia tries desperately to ignore her.

MARIANO: OH! We've counted it! We have! Many times. But what happens is – new money … it tends to stick together and we have trouble coming up with an accurate total– we need one of those money counting machines that we can put in and –

MONTAYA: Fine – bring it in now. OK?

MARIANO: … ok.

Montoya turns to Pepa. She is still staring at Silvia.

MONTOYA: Pepa, how are you progressing?

PEPA: Well, we now have the name of the victim. Her name is Evelyn Garcia. And, in addition to finding her body dumped about 15km from her house…

She hands Silvia a folder. Silvia, making a concentrated effort to not look at Pepa, quickly tosses the file to Montoya.

PEPA: The autopsy confirms that the death was caused by one single hit that damaged the central lobe.

She stares at Silvia.

MONTOYA: Well, guys that's it. Take care.

SARA[arriving]: And you don't have anything for me, Boss?

Everyone reacts with happiness at seeing Sara. Sara, unaware of the fight between her aunts, hugs Silvia and Pepa at the same time.

Silvia yanks away from Sara and flees the room. Pepa immediately goes after her, catching her just outside the room.

PEPA: Silvia, Silvia, please. Please, listen to me. Listen to me, please.

Silvia stays, but her eyes are anywhere but on Pepa. She yanks her hand out of Pepa's angrily.

INSIDE the room, Sara is happily greeting Mariano and Paco, as Aitor watches wistfully.

MARIANO: And is Lucas a model agent yet or what?

SARA: He's great. He's already learned how to say 'This coffee is shit' and 'I'm going to break your head open' in English.

OUTSIDE, Pepa isn't sure how to say what she wants to say. She's timid now – fearful in the face of Silvia's obvious hostility.

PEPA: [voice choked] I was thinking about it, Silvia and… maybe it's not such a bad idea… to have a baby.

It's more than Silvia can take. She SLAPS Pepa across the cheek.

In shock, Pepa reacts without thinking. She SLAPS back. Immediately, she realizes what she's done.

AITOR hears the slaps, and jerks his attention outside.

Silvia reels, and snaps. She LAUNCHES herself at Pepa, attacking her viciously. Pepa does not fight her.

The team RUSHES outside. Aitor grabs hold of Pepa to ward off the blows, but it takes both Mariano and Paco to restrain Silvia, who is fighting like a Hell-Cat.

PACO: Silvia! That's enough!

MARIANO: okay! Okay!

Pepa is broken. She stares uncomprehendingly at Silvia as Mariano and Paco fight her.

Silvia JERKS away from Mariano and Paco and flees.

Destroyed, Pepa loses her strength and collapses against Aitor. As everyone tries to process what just happened, Sara looks on, stricken at what has taken place between her two aunts.

LATER – THE LAB

Silvia and Pepa sit on the counter, separated as Rita tends to Silvia and Pepa is tended to by Sara. Each has a matching spatter of blood on the corner of their lips.

Montoya is furious that two of his most competent cops have fallen into this lunacy.

MONTOYA: You're officers, dammit! [He points to Pepa] Agent [he points to Silvia] and Forensics Inspector in charge of the Science Department.

Sara glances at Pepa. Pepa is a shell.

MONTOYA: You can't start slapping each other in front of your colleagues, dammit! Do you understand?

Silvia has moved on from blind fury to stone numbness.

MONTOYA: Do you understand or don't you?!

Nothing. Pepa stares at Silvia.

MONTOYA: You're suspended without pay. Both of you. For a week.

Silvia lifts a careless brow. Frustrated, Montoya walks out. Silvia turns to meet Pepa's stare.

Without a word, Silvia gets up and leaves.

RITA: Where are you going?! Where are you going, woman! At least put a band-aid on!

Rita follows her.

RITA: She always does whatever she wants.

Sara stares knowingly at Pepa, but can't say anything. They both know Pepa is fucked. Pepa is quietly broken.

PEPA: I've really fucked it up, niece. 14 months and I fuck it up again. And this time I even bust her mouth open, fuck.

She winces. Sara stares at her sympathetically.

PEPA: Silvia is crazy. But I adore her. With her insane quirks and her ... naïve air and forensics approach.

Sara smiles sadly.

PEPA: I don't know if this has happened to you, but I've been with lots of people, and after a while you realize ... you can only be with one.

PEPA: Christmas, summers, breakfasts... just... be.

Sara embraces her broken aunt.

SARA: That's very beautiful, Pepa. But you have to tell that to her.

Pepa smiles, and inhales.

PEPA: No, Sara. There's no more words.

She hops off the counter with a renewed sense of purpose.

PEPA: From now on, I'm going to do things my way.

Sara watches her go, smiling with quiet hope.

IN THE BULLPEN

Mariano and Paco count the amount of money in front of the whole world to see. DL sees them and checks with Pove to see if he's already yelled at them about this - Pove confirms that he hasn't. DL, reassured, yells at them to get the money out of plain sight and put it away.

He goes to the bathroom, and yells at Povedilla that he doesn't need him in the bathroom. Mariano and Paco watch suspiciously.

ELSEWHERE IN THE BULLPEN

Pepa is crossing off a name off a list she's scratched on her notepad. She's getting off the phone.

PEPA: Well... thanks for nothing. Talk to you later.

She hangs up the phone and goes back to her list.

SARA: Aunt!

Pepa jumps and hides her list behind her back, as Sara giddily runs up to her.

SARA: Hey!

PEPA: What?

SARA: How about some exercise for the Mirandas at the local boxing ring?! Eh?

Sara starts to faux box playfully. Pepa blinks.

PEPA: ... What?

Sara just continues to bounce. Pepa realizes what she means.

PEPA: No. You're not going to that place. It's really dangerous, Sara. I'm not letting you go.

SARA: Yeah, what a shame it's Montoya who assigns the cases and not you.

Pepa narrows her eyes in shock.

PEPA: What?! Gonzalo has assigned you MY case?

Sara nods happily. Pepa is not pleased.

PEPA: Have you lost your mind or what?

Sara grabs her, resorting to begging.

SARA: One week! The week you're suspended. That's it! Look, train and listen! Nothing else!

She grins wickedly.

SARA: Besides, now that Lucas isn't here, I'm going to start having to do a different kind of exercise.

Pepa can't help but smile.

PEPA: ONE week.

SARA: [bouncing happily] One week!

PEPA: And I'll go with you to the gymnasium.

She starts leading Sara away. Sara starts to bounce and punch her playfully.

PEPA: And I'll give you the lowdown on the situation. What are you doing with your Boom-Boom! You think you're so tough with your Boom-Boom!

They head out.

BACK AT THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BULLPEN

Povedilla keeps taking notes - Mariano and Paco glare at him and surround him, taking the note pad away from him.

Paco reads it and realizes that Povedilla is playing Memory Bank for DL. Mariano and Paco are furious that DL knows what's going on and still refuses to go to the hospital. He orders a reluctant Povedilla to assemble his team for an emergency meeting.

IN THE BRIEFING ROOM

Paco tells his assembled team that he has a top secret assignment. He tells them DL has been having a memory problem but since he refuses to acknowledge it, he wants them to make him realize DL needs help and to go to the hospital.

Curtis happily says that if he wants to drive someone crazy, he couldn't have picked a better team.

Povedilla is conflicted - but meekly agrees when Paco glares at him.

IN THE LAB

Silvia, alone, gathers together her papers. Gonzalo walks by and sees her. He pokes his head in.

MONTOYA: How are you?

Silvia glares at him - how the hell does he think she is?

He sighs and comes in, closing the door behind him.

MONTOYA: Silvia, I'm sorry I had to take disciplinary measures but... but those are the rules-

SILVIA: Yes, I know. It doesn't matter to me.

She's distraught, rubbing her face miserably.

SILVIA: I feel mortified. Ridiculous. Stupid. To start fighting in the precinct like this was a schoolyard.

MONTOYA: We've seen worse, Silvia.

Silvia pauses, and considers who she's with.

SILVIA: Gonzalo, I have a question. Am I crazy?

Ever the gentleman, Gonzalo skirts the question.

MONTOYA: Well... we're all a little crazy aren't we? This is the 21st century.

Silvia is undeterred.

SILVIA: Yes, but I'm asking you as my ex. Am I really so crazy, so incomprehensible, am I insane?

He offers a guilty smile.

MONTOYA: I'm not going to deny that you're a little crazy. You're up, you're down - you're here, you're there. It's tough to keep up with you.

Silvia takes that in.

MONTOYA: What you have is a cocktail of hormones ... that someone needs a manual to navigate like... like a TV Guide.

This isn't good news for Silvia.

MONTOYA: But you have something that I don't have.

SILVIA: What, a neurological disorder?

He smiles sadly.

MONTOYA: Someone who loves you. Someone that you can love... or hate.

Silvia's eyes immediately tear up. Montoya looks at her. But the pain is still fresh, and this is why Silvia went berserk:

SILVIA: You know what? He would have been 26 months. Our baby. He'd be about 70 centimeters high, and he'd be muttering incomprehensible phrases from the two or three words he knew.

Her dreams are broken, her baby is lost, and Silvia breaks all over again. Gonzalo pulls her in, sharing her grief.

Silvia sobs.

AT SARA AND LUCAS'

As Sara gets ready to go to the gym, Aitor shows up with some boxing equipment for her assignment. He gives her his lucky gloves - from his week and a half boxing stint where he lasted only long enough to get his teeth broken.

He asks her about Lucas, and she tells him he's fine. Aitor wishes her the best, and begins to teach her the basics to some kicky music montage.

As they finish, Sara decides to head off to the gym. Aitor deals with the fact that he's still very much in love with Sara, and will never have her.

IN THE BATHROOM

Mariano tells Paco about his new strategy for getting rid of Marina: avoidance while she's out of town. Paco listens until he realizes that Mariano is looking at his dick while he's peeing.

MARIANO: I'm sorry! It's just since I think I'm homosexual my eyes just go that way.

PACO: What are you talking about!? You're not gay, dammit! What you are is crazy!

Mariano gets a text - they found a rooster. He goes to buy it.

IN DL'S OFFICE

The plan to drive DL crazy has started. The team has pinched his TV, his cell phone, his office phone, put speakers in his office, the works.

When DL comes back to his office, they begin the task of driving him insane, with playing the exact same song no matter what he's doing. When he picks up the phone. When he turns on the television. When he flips the channel.

As he gets agitated, they start playing the song in the office. Panicked, DL calls Povedilla in his office to show him. Of course everything is normal. They start playing the song again on the speakers. DL tries to get Povedilla to 'hear' the song. Povedilla is tortured doing this, but says all he can hear is the airconditioner.

DL is terrified.

AT THE BOXING GYM

At the gym, Pepa preps Sara for the mission, as the owner says hello on his rounds.

PEPA: Sebastian Murro. The owner. He knows everyone in the business here in Madrid. But not him, no one knows what occurred to Evelyn the night of the crime - what exactly happened.

SARA: But Evelyn got along with the trainer?

Pepa nods grimly.

PEPA: Yes. They say she was his right-hand. Sara, when we get up there, hit me. Hit me so it looks realistic, ok?

Sara agrees. Pepa, a Miranda as well, narrows her eyes.

PEPA: Yes, but with control! Okay? I know you. Not in the face!

SARA: Okay! I have great control!

She hits Pepa's gloves playfully. Pepa rolls her eyes.

SARA: I do!

Sara reaches down for her gloves, and accidentally unearths Pepa's list. She grabs it.

SARA: What's this?

Pepa stiffens.

PEPA: Give me that.

But her gloves are on, and she can't grab it. Sara easily holds it out of reach.

SARA: What is it? A list of boxers?

Pepa winces, sighing.

SARA: Alan, Damien... the Pipas?! [she laughs] Who is The Pipas?!

Pepa hesitates, and comes clean.

PEPA: The Pipas is the first guy I slept with.

Sara grins, bemused.

PEPA: I'm looking for a donor. A father who isn't an anonymous donor at a fertility clinic.

Sara's smile fades as what Pepa is saying begins to set in.

PEPA: Sara, I'm going to give my princess the baby that she wants so badly. But my way. Without hormones and contracts and with a guy I KNOW.

And it's gone from bad to worse.

SARA: Pepa, does Silvia know?

Pepa glares, but doesn't answer.

SARA: PEPA.

SEBASTIAN: Pepa, let's go. Start warming up, the two of you.

Pepa gives Sara a 'deal with it' stare, and heads for the ring. Sara is horrified, aware of just how bad this is.

MEANWHILE

Mariano gets conned while buying a cock. They won't let them take just the rooster, but force him to either take 50 chickens too or two ferrets, two dogs and a whole menagerie.

The con men confuse Mariano so much he agrees to take the animals just to get the rooster.

A SHADY GUY agrees to the sale.

AT THE PRECINT

The team starts phase 2 of 'DRIVE DL CRAZY' . They proceed to walk by his door, crawling back under the window, and doing the exact same thing again - three times.

DL comes out and asks what the hell they're going, walking by three times. They tell him they only crossed once. A conflicted Pove confirms their story.

Curtis steps up the plan by giving DL something to sign, and then reciting lyrics from the song they're using as if it's every day language. When DL expresses confusion, Rita jumps in helpfully, and recites more lyrics. Everyone nods knowingly.

DL locks himself in his office, freaked out.

AT THE BOXING GYM

For the record, putting two determined and angry Mirandas in a boxing ring to hash things out is never a good idea. The Castros got all the restraint. Let's keep that in mind.

The sparring has begun. Sara has moved on from disbelief to pissed off Silvia's behalf.

SARA: Why are you doing this? Do you really think that getting yourself pregnant will make Silvia forgive you for humiliating her in public?

PEPA: Shut up and fight.

She punches Sara's glove HARD, forcing it to smack Sara into the chin. Sara stumbles back, stunned. And grows more pissed.

SARA: You can't ask for forgiveness like a normal person. No, Pepa Miranda has to make a grand gesture! Like a champion!

Incensed, Pepa hits her with a sharp UPPERCUT to the chin. Sara glares in disbelief. A SHADY DUDE walks in as the trainer barks at Pepa to keep her gloves up.

SARA: My dad and my grandfather had a point! You're a shameless lunatic! You don't any common sense!

Sara manages to punch her hard on the face. SHADY GUY notices the fight. Pepa glares.

SEBASTIAN: Come on, dance, dance! Keep your elbows down!

PEPA: Do you know what it means to have common sense? To give up what I've dreamed of my whole fucking life.

She punches Sara hard with a gut shot.

PEPA: And Silvia ... Silvia is who I've dreamed of my entire life! I'm not the kind of person who gives up.

She PUNCHES Sara again. Sara comes back with a barrage of body shots.

SARA: Oh no? And what kind of person are you? Because YESTERDAY, Silvia was an egotistical bitch because she wanted to have a kid. And today she's the best thing in the world - and you'd get yourself pregnant your way.

PEPA: Don't get involved, little Girl!

She punches Sara again. Sara comes back hard.

SARA: And tomorrow, you'll change your mind again! You'll end up in an abortion clinic! Or worse, you'll realize you don't want it anymore - once you've given birth to it.

PEPA: I told you to stay OUT of it!

SARA: I won't stay out of it because she's my FAMILY.

She brings down a hard front punch, KNOCKING Pepa to the ground. The fury fades as Sara realizes she has made Pepa bleed. She's stricken.

SARA: Pepa...

But she's just infuriated Pepa, and she's done with the sparring. She launches up and grabs hold of Sara, keeping her close. SHADY GUY whispers something in Sebastion's ear. Sebastion isn't happy.

PEPA: Your family!? Did you come out of your mother that way? If you had thought about your family, you wouldn't have gotten shot the day of your wedding, and your mother and your father would still be together!

[Transcribers notes - this is harsh - but Pepa has issues - remember she was ALSO blamed for her parent's divorce by Paco, and it was the reason she ran away. This is therapy gone very very bad.]

It's too much. Sara loses it. She starts wailing on Pepa. Pepa doesn't fight back. Sara hits again, Pepa crumbles to the ground.

Shady Guy nods and Sebastian frowns, but takes the money from the guy anyway. Pepa launches up and grabs hold of Sara, too tired to do anything but grip her in frustration.

SEBASTIAN: Okay, okay! That's enough!

When they don't let go, he grabs a sponge with water and lobs it at them, breaking them apart.

SEBASTIAN: Pepa. Come here.

Aunt and Niece stare at each other in horror, unable to believe it got that far. In a daze, Pepa walks to Sebastian.

SEBASTIAN: That wasn't too bad, huh? This guy was looking at you two. He organizes fights. It's three grand a piece. If you want to go talk to him, I don't know anything.

He walks away. Aware that this is the break they've been looking for, Pepa crawls out of the ring to go talk to the dude.

Sara grabs a towel watches her aunt work.

AT PACO'S

Paco packs up Lola's things. He's devastated and quietly sobs.

Later, in the living room, Mariano is trying to get the rooster they bought to fight. Paco makes a mistake when he says the rooster looks gay. Mariano takes offense and reminds him he might be gay now. Paco rolls his eyes and tells him once more that he's NOT GAY.

Paco gets a phone call from Lola and Mariano checks the mail and reacts with horror when he sees that Marina has sent him proofs of a wedding invitation. She's back in town and will have dinner with him tonight. He panics. Paco calms him down and advises him to be straight with Marina and tell her he needs a break. Mariano decides to tell her that he's gay.

PACO: Mariano, dammit, YOU ARE NOT GAY.

Paco has a gay sister and a gay sister-in-law. He would know.

AT THE PRECINCT

Pepa, with her fresh black eye, heads for DL's office. Aitor stops her.

AITOR: Pepa, hey. You've got something on your eye.

She smiles good-naturedly.

AITOR: What, did you have another fight with Silvia and you didn't tell us?

That's not funny. Pepa glares at him and walks past him - Aitor catches her on her elbow and brings her back to face him.

AITOR: Pepa, hey. It was a joke. Okay, that's all.

She glares at him.

AITOR: Look... I've been where you are. I didn't have that face but... I don't know, look. I think it's better to feel good... than feel bad. But that depends on you. You know what I'm saying, right?

She smiles at him. He gives her a comforting pat and heads on his way.

Pepa, however, now has an idea.

PEPA: Aitor?

He turns back.

PEPA: Do you want to have dinner with me tonight?

He blinks, confused, but smiles.

AT CACHI'S

The storylines collide at Catchis. Mariano/Salgado have dinner while Paco's men watch DL from another table.

Mariano tells Salgado that they've lost the passion in the relationship, and she agrees and runs over him, saying what they need is surprise! Fantasy! She gets an idea and sneaks under the table to give him a blow job. He tries to fight her, but pretty soon is too busy trying not to moan too loud.

Pepa and Aitor enter. Aitor says hi to a spasming Mariano as they head for a table.

Paco's men continue to drive DL crazy by bringing up that song again on his phone. DL makes Mariano call him but the phone, of course, works when a very distracted Mariano tries it.

Pepa and Aitor have an awkward dinner.

PEPA: I don't know if you know this, but I wasn't always a lesbian. I first slept with a woman when I was 16 years old, but before that... I would sleep with guys. Well... before... and after... to be honest. That was until I met Silvia.

Aitor nods, clearly not knowing what this has to do with him.

PEPA: I stopped going out, I stopped looking, I stopped flirting... Have you ever loved someone like that?

Aitor nods. When Pepa smiles, he smiles awkwardly and laughs.

AITOR: But I... I just... I don't... I don't understand what you and I are doing here...

Pepa laughs.

AITOR: Having dinner... with flowers... talking about your sister-in-law.

Pepa nods.

PEPA: you're right. You're right. You have a point. I'm getting ahead of myself... So...

She takes a gulp of wine to gain her courage. Aitor happily eats some nuts. Pepa comes out with it.

PEPA: Would you sleep with me?

Aitor CHOKES. Pepa gets up and tries to help by smacking his back.

MEANWHILE - Mariano tries to get Marina out from under the table, but Paco comes and she has to stay hidden. Paco realizes what has just happened and is disgusted.

On the other side of Cachis, Team Paco have recruited the new Cachi's manager to help. She keeps bringing DL the same soup over and over again, claiming it's the first one. DL wants to cry. Povedilla feels worse and worse as he confirms to DL that it's his first.

Pepa and Aitor continue their talk.

PEPA: I never planned on having a kid. Not in my life. Not after I knew I liked girls or before. I'd see a friend with a baby and I'd think, "God, what a hassle."

Aitor nods, terrified where this is going.

PEPA: You know what I'm talking about, right?

AITOR: ... No. No-no- I have no idea what you're talking about, Pepa.

PEPA: For a week I've been talking about pregnancy and babies with the love of my life. I've even come to blows with her over it. But I've come to realize, that I want to do it.

PEPA: I want to do it for her. And for me too. Because ... because if Silvia smiles, I smile. Because if I imagine a postcard of her with our baby, smiling... to me that's a beautiful postcard.

Aitor is filled with dread. Pepa is lost in her fantasy.

PEPA: Aitor. Have you had a beautiful postcard like that?

He nods. Pepa smiles.

AITOR: But... the difference between yours and mine is that... I can't dwell on it. I have to keep going. Because I know I won't ever have that in my fucking life.

Pepa gives him a sad smile.

ACROSS THE WAY - Paco tries to leave to give Marina a chance to sneak out, but MONTOYA comes in to ask about the case. He happily sits with Mariano and Paco, saying he hasn't eaten.

Marina sighs and resigns herself to a night under the table.

AT PEPA AND AITOR'S TABLE:

PEPA: When you told me at the precinct that it was better to feel okay than to feel bad... I realized you were a really optimistic guy. That you're a really vibrant guy! That you go all in for everything. Like those wine corks that always fly up.

He laughs uncomfortably.

PEPA: I made a list and... and I don't need it anymore. Because ... because I want your DNA for my baby.

Aitor's smile drops.

PEPA: You would only be the biological father. Without obligations or rights over the baby. And no one would have to know. And... I would only ask one thing. That... that it would be the traditional way. I'm no friend of hospitals.

DL gets up to go pee. They give him another soup. Povedilla feels horrible.

PEPA: What do you say?

Aitor struggles to control himself.

AITOR: Well, let's see... You're telling me ... that you've discussed this with Silvia, and you both want a baby.

Pepa hesitates, but nods.

AITOR: And you've told her that I'd be the father.

Pepa shifts.

PEPA: Well...

AITOR: Not on your fucking life. Not on your fucking life. With an Agent. Sister of the Inspector. Lesbian. Whose with the daughter of the Commissioner, and aunt to my ex? You're asking me... you're asking me as if none of that was important - "Make me a kid with your sperm! You've got plenty!"

PEPA: No, it's not like that.

AITOR: Yes, it's like that. It's exactly like that. And you want me to inseminate you like if I were a coin in a slot machine?

He's pissed.

PEPA: I understand that-

AITOR: No. You understand shit. You have your list. Well, keep trying - they're all the same to you anyway.

He gets up and leaves.

PACO'S HOUSE

DL sits in bed, stricken. Paco and Mariano come home, Paco disgusted with Mariano for what happened.

Paco enters Sara's room and it's FILLED with chickens and the ferrets. A chicken escapes. Paco worries how DL will take it but Mariano said that's fine because earlier DL saw a chicken and Mariano said there was no chicken and DL just agreed.

They get a call that the fight is tomorrow and they try to round up the chickens.

Outside, the teams wakes up DL with the SONG on his cellphone again. Povedilla tries to stop them. He picks up - not knowing what to do, the team starts singing the song to him.

As a horrified DL listens, a chicken flies on his bed. He's now convinced he's going crazy, and it breaks him.

AT SARA'S

Sara inspects her sore cheek as she and Silvia eat and drink on the couch.

SARA: I think I can make a good case to report her for physical assault.

She's joking.

SILVIA: She got you good.

SARA: She came out of it worse.

SILVIA: I'll toast to that.

She grabs her wine and thinks better of it.

SILVIA: No, no. I'm going to stop being so insane. I'll toast... to good things for both of us. [of Sara's look] For all three of us.

SARA: Ah!

They clink glasses. Sara watches as Silvia's smile fades into quiet devastation of the reality of her life without Pepa.

SARA: Silvia... she told me she wants to fix it.

Silvia inhales painfully and shakes her head, putting down her wine.

SILVIA: Well, at the moment I have no intention of fixing it.

SARA: She's trying to make amends.

SILVIA: How, by going to therapy?

... Not exactly. Silvia blinks, growing suspicious.

SILVIA: Sara... do you know something?

SARA: Why don't you talk to her?

Silvia sighs.

SARA: She's... determined to change things.

SILVIA: Change them how?

But Sara, torn between her two aunts, does not want to be the one to tell her this.

SARA: Silvia, really, go talk to her yourself.

SILVIA: Sara, I don't have any intention of talking to that lunatic. So if you know something, tell me please.

Sara struggles, but sees the pleading look in Silvia's eyes. With a sigh of regret, she spills the beans.

SARA: ... she has a list. Of guys she's been with. She's... she's looking for a father.

Silvia's stunned.

SARA: A donor. To get herself pregnant. She wants to give you a baby.

It's too much for Silvia to process. She gets up, in a daze, warding off Sara's comforting pull.

SARA: Silvia- SILVIA!

Sara winces, feeling horrible.

Silvia stares out the window, stricken... or numb ... or broken... dumbstruck at this revelation.
